Patterson thinks Chase Winovich will play
Sounds like bruised ribs..

Quarterback Shea Patterson, Winovich's roommate, delivered some more promising news Tuesday after practice about his availability for Saturday's game at No. 10 Ohio State.
"(You'd) have to kill him to take him out," Patterson said. We're not really sure his progress yet. He's a tough guy."
"I've talked to him, he says he's feeling better. I'd assume he'd play, but you never know the severity of it. Knowing him, I think he'll play."
Junior defensive end Rashan Gary said he hopes Winovich will be healthy enough to face the Buckeyes, although he declined to say if he practiced Tuesday.
"I was just talking with Chase earlier, he is pumped up, he is ready, getting ready," Gary said. "I really couldn't tell you, but hopefully he does play. But most importantly, he has to take care of his body."

I've heard repeatedly slamming buckeye quarterbacks to the ground cures bruised ribs.
November 20th, 2018 at 9:24 PM ^
ribs is/are not his injury.
status is not being published. will be released thursday or friday.
November 20th, 2018 at 9:28 PM ^
Well that's ominous, xm.
November 20th, 2018 at 9:28 PM ^
Interesting.. Do you know if you would do a CT scan for a separated shoulder?
November 20th, 2018 at 9:28 PM ^
Exactly. Anyone who watched knows it's not his ribs. Probably separated shoulder to some degree.
I'd be surprised if he plays.
November 20th, 2018 at 9:36 PM ^
I'm closer to 50/50 after Shea's statement. Afterall, he does live with Chase. I cant believe Shea would sound this hopeful if he didnt have some basis for the hope.

It’s possible that his imaging was negative and he still doesn’t play. A shoulder separation (grade 2 or 3 AC joint sprain) is seen on plain x Ray. He could have a grade 1 ac sprain or bruised ribs, but I’d bet he plays through that.
November 20th, 2018 at 11:11 PM ^
To be fair, I can see a grade 2/3 AC sprain with my eyes and fingers. I believe the x-rays/CT was to rule out a clavicle or maybe an acromion fracture?
November 20th, 2018 at 9:52 PM ^
I separated my shoulder in a scrimmage the week before our first game in high school. I still played in the first game. The pain is annoying but it can be managed, especially if he gets something to treat it during the game. The biggest thing is how confident would he be in using his shoulder.

Hey, why don't you blow me?
November 21st, 2018 at 1:04 AM ^
If it was separated, Winovich would do his best Alex Grady impersonation from Best of the Best,”Got damn it! Tape it up, tape it up!”
November 21st, 2018 at 12:47 AM ^
From the way he first landed and reacted, probable A-C sprain. Seemed hurt on the initial ground contact, not the pile-on.

Agree. As soon as he hit the gound, he laid there quite still.

Looking at the body language from Shea when he said it, I don’t think he’s playing
November 20th, 2018 at 10:15 PM ^
Is there an actual video of this? It’s not in the linked article and you didn’t link to a video, so right now your comment has no basis.
November 20th, 2018 at 10:55 PM ^
Just because he didn't spoonfeed you the clip doesn't mean his comment "has no basis." Go to YouTube and search for Shea Patterson. Filter for videos uploaded during the past 24 hours if necessary. It's not difficult to find.
November 21st, 2018 at 5:48 AM ^
Thanks for the link. I didn't take anything away from Shea's body language.
November 21st, 2018 at 10:24 PM ^
Shea’s body language indicated that he did not want to give an answer because the team doesn’t disclose this info. He didn’t want to piss off Harbaugh. It’s also a strategy to keep the opponent guessing
November 20th, 2018 at 9:41 PM ^
If his injury is one that the doctors will let him on the field with, Chase will be on the field. The question is how effective will he be.
November 20th, 2018 at 9:43 PM ^
A flak jacket and some cortisone, and he's good to go.
November 20th, 2018 at 10:00 PM ^
If I were going to C-bus, I'd do that too

If Mineral King says Winovich is going to play, then he’s going to play.
November 20th, 2018 at 9:45 PM ^
Dwumfour was carted off the field and played the next game. Paye went to the locker room and didn’t return to the game for a bumped funny bone. I have no idea what to expect with Winovich.

Speaking of injuries, has anyone heard anything about Aubrey Solomon's status? I never saw him get injured during the broadcast, but I know he left the game early on and went to the locker room. With the interior of our defensive line struggling a bit over the last couple games, it would be nice to have Solomon back against OSU.
November 20th, 2018 at 10:13 PM ^
I think he was struggling really badly with the flu. Harbaugh hasnt really mentioned him so who knows
November 20th, 2018 at 10:05 PM ^
Everybody plays and shuts out the Fuckeyes. Yup! Thats right. You know it.
November 20th, 2018 at 10:08 PM ^
Whatever his status: Don Brown will know what to do.
November 20th, 2018 at 11:02 PM ^
This for sure.
November 20th, 2018 at 10:09 PM ^
Chase has got to play. You aren't a man until you've taken a few jabs in the bruised ribs. Guys that are made out of hurricanes and Van Damme movies can only claim that.
November 20th, 2018 at 10:44 PM ^
Patterson and Gary are not giving any information whatsoever.
Good.
November 20th, 2018 at 10:45 PM ^
Shea's body language is always a little awkward in interviews imo.
I don't see his status being announced Thu or Fri either.
November 20th, 2018 at 11:02 PM ^
We will not know until he does/doesn’t step on the field Saturday. He may even dress and “warm up”. That won’t mean anything.
November 20th, 2018 at 11:13 PM ^
Hardly a confident ringing endorsement.

It's all an elaborate ploy! It would be very Harbaugh to fake an injury to key personnel, even going so far as taking them out of a game, sending them to the hospital, etc. He takes gamesmanship to a whole new level.
Probably wishful thinking.
November 21st, 2018 at 7:20 AM ^
Did you all see Gary's interview? It was pretty funny. They asked him if CW practiced and he said something along the lines of "I don't know you'd have to ask Harbaugh" lol. Pretty funny comment.
Personally, if he had a fractured clavicle like many suspected (or a severe AC joint injury) and he was just flat out done I believe we'd know at this point. That leads me to believe it's probably a situation he may be able to play but at this point it's more of a "leaning one way or the other" with no definitive decision.
I'm not trying to pull stuff out of my ass being an athletic trainer (including at BG when meyer was there) it's just the way this stuff tends to go with injuries. Even when people try to hide it when someone is absolutely out people find out.
November 22nd, 2018 at 8:23 PM ^
Shit. I played 3 games with two broken ribs. Tape that chest and get him pain relieve. Once the adrenaline takes over the pain disappears. I had some of my best games with busted ribs.
