Quarterback Shea Patterson, Winovich's roommate, delivered some more promising news Tuesday after practice about his availability for Saturday's game at No. 10 Ohio State.

"(You'd) have to kill him to take him out," Patterson said. We're not really sure his progress yet. He's a tough guy."

"I've talked to him, he says he's feeling better. I'd assume he'd play, but you never know the severity of it. Knowing him, I think he'll play."

Junior defensive end Rashan Gary said he hopes Winovich will be healthy enough to face the Buckeyes, although he declined to say if he practiced Tuesday.

"I was just talking with Chase earlier, he is pumped up, he is ready, getting ready," Gary said. "I really couldn't tell you, but hopefully he does play. But most importantly, he has to take care of his body."

It’s possible that his imaging was negative and he still doesn’t play.  A shoulder separation (grade 2 or 3 AC joint sprain) is seen on plain x Ray.  He could have a grade 1 ac sprain or bruised  ribs, but I’d bet he plays through that.

I separated my shoulder in a scrimmage the week before our first game in high school.  I still played in the first game.  The pain is annoying but it can be managed, especially if he gets something to treat it during the game.  The biggest thing is how confident would he be in using his shoulder.

Dwumfour was carted off the field and played the next game. Paye went to the locker room and didn’t return to the game for a bumped funny bone. I have no idea what to expect with Winovich.

Speaking of injuries, has anyone heard anything about Aubrey Solomon's status? I never saw him get injured during the broadcast, but I know he left the game early on and went to the locker room. With the interior of our defensive line struggling a bit over the last couple games, it would be nice to have Solomon back against OSU.

Chase has got to play. You aren't a man until you've taken a few jabs in the bruised ribs. Guys that are made out of hurricanes and Van Damme movies can only claim that.

Shea's body language is always a little awkward in interviews imo.

I don't see his status being announced Thu or Fri either.

It's all an elaborate ploy! It would be very Harbaugh to fake an injury to key personnel, even going so far as taking them out of a game, sending them to the hospital, etc. He takes gamesmanship to a whole new level.

Probably wishful thinking.

Did you all see Gary's interview? It was pretty funny. They asked him if CW practiced and he said something along the lines of "I don't know you'd have to ask Harbaugh" lol. Pretty funny comment.

Personally, if he had a fractured clavicle like many suspected (or a severe AC joint injury) and he was just flat out done I believe we'd know at this point. That leads me to believe it's probably a situation he may be able to play but at this point it's more of a "leaning one way or the other" with no definitive decision.

I'm not trying to pull stuff out of my ass being an athletic trainer (including at BG when meyer was there) it's just the way this stuff tends to go with injuries. Even when people try to hide it when someone is absolutely out people find out.

Shit. I played 3 games with two broken ribs.  Tape that chest and get him pain relieve.  Once the adrenaline takes over the pain disappears.  I had some of my best games with busted ribs.
