Our new mascot is...Mike Tyson?

Submitted by Sparkle Motion on

Stumbled across this interview with Mike Tyson in New York Magazine:

Other than his pigeons, he’s had pet tigers over the years. I ask Tyson if he were an animal, what animal would he be?

He looks up at the tinseled ceiling. He scratches his thick neck. “I’d like to be a lion, but I think I’m a wolverine,” he says.

Wolverines: “They’re like big giant rats. They’re about 50 pounds and fearless. They fight to the death. They don’t move fast. They walk slow because they’re not afraid of nothing. That’s how I think. And they can be a little reckless.”

If DB can get Iron MIke on the sideline taking pictures with the kiddos I would support that...

"I'm the best ever. I'm the most brutal and vicious, the most ruthless champion there's ever been. There's no one can stop me. Brutus is a conquerer? No, I'm Alexander, he's no Alexander. I'm the best ever! There is no one who can match me. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I'm just ferocious. I want his heart! I want to eat his children! Praise be to Denard!"

I've got to go with Amadou Ba as my favorite mascot.  The day he threw MSU's mascot across the court still holds a special place in my heart.  We may have split the series on the basketball court that year, but Ba DOMINATED the mascot challenge.

They are not that slow.  The loping gait that they use is acutally quite efficient in the snow covered areas that they tend to live in.  And that's only about 3rd gear for them.  They can go into a full out run if they have to.  I'm not sure about reckless...although I guess climbing a mountain because one can would be that.....

The Annual battles of Mike Tyson v. Brutus and Sparty would make me laugh every year.  Mainly because those mascots would be destroyed and well...nobody's going to stop Mike Tyson
