OTish: End of Mike & Mike coming soon?

Submitted by superstringer on

ESPN brass is transferring "Greenie" to lead a morning newsy/talky TV show.  Unclear if Golic stays on the radio, or if the show gets entirely new talent.  Golic Jr. potentially in running for that.  WOTS is this will happen "sooner rather than later."

Lots of folks here bash M&M a lot, but I also suspect a lot of us listen to them driving to work each morning.  I find myself disagreeing with them (esp Greenie) far more often than nodding in approval.  Golic pretty much is Mr. Obvious.  They are huge Harbaugh fans, esp Greenie.

IIRC, they are in the radio hall of fame, their show has been on for nearly two decades.  It's easy to decry them as uninformed / generic talking heads, but it's still a pretty impressive run they've had.  And a few good moments too (Greenie milking the cow was effing classic).

Don't bother me so much, but the homers Danny Kannell and Joey Galloway have to go. And watching Brent Musberger call the Kentucky/Vanderbilt game the other night was excruciating

...about this show, but I've never actually listened to it. Every time I tune to the channel, there is a commercial for some thing or another. They must have 45 minutes of commercials an hour.

Can't stand any national or Detroit sports blabber. If it doesn't involve U-M sports I don't really give a shit, and the best source for U-M info is WTKA in the mornings.

#ESPNsucks Only time I've seen/heard Weenie & The Lump in many years is in hotel concierge lounges when I'm on the road and it's just on. Not a fan and not surprised given the Disney/ESPN disaster.

People applauded when the college football scoreboard team was broken up. Now it's fucking unwatchable. Espn ALWAYS downgrades after breaking up a show cast. You people will be barfing up your lungs at whatever replaces them.

I feel old as I don't watch ESPN for anything other than live sports events.  And an occassional 30 for 30.  I know these names but have never heard the show nor any of these "hot take" shows I see as I scroll through channels.

Maybe the replacement show will have more than 28 minutes of content per hour.  Or at least some hosts that will ditch the "Im OK, You're OK"; jocksniffing routine and actually take some interesting positions on things.

This tired act needed to die years ago.
