Can't a kid smoke some pot? I mean geez.
August 27th, 2018 at 2:19 PM ^
Amen (not sure if serious, but I am)
August 27th, 2018 at 3:11 PM ^
Obviously, not. Rules are rules and if the idiot got caught breaking them, what should Chip do? Look the other way like Urban?
August 27th, 2018 at 3:32 PM ^
idiot? Ok gramps
August 27th, 2018 at 7:43 PM ^
They are idiots. Whether you agree or disagree with weed, rules are rules. If you want to have a scholarship and ultimately try and get drafted, you have to follow those rules.
August 28th, 2018 at 3:33 AM ^
Well then there are and have been a fuck ton of idiots on our team then! Fact!
I spent a little time with Devin when he was here and he was ALWAYS laughing and smiling. Now I know why! Haha. Ok, well actually part of it was he was listening to comedy on his headphones instead of music like everyone else. Yes, really.
I never smelled weed on him though in the few times we met
August 28th, 2018 at 8:23 PM ^
Who the fuck said he wants that? Shut up
August 27th, 2018 at 11:50 AM ^
Wish he had stayed. Do TEs feature prominently in a Chip Kelly offense?
August 27th, 2018 at 11:54 AM ^
Wasn't it Jim Mora Jr.'s offense when he transferred?
August 27th, 2018 at 11:57 AM ^
Link?
UCLA will kick off the new college football season and the first game in the Chip Kelly era a bit shorthanded. On Monday, UCLA suspended six players for the season opener this weekend against Cincinnati for what is simply being reported as a violation of athletic department policy. Tight endDevin Asiasi, running back Soso Jamabo, defensive linemen Osa Odighizuwa andMoses Robinson-Carr, defensive back Mo Osling, and offensive lineman Boss Tagaloawill all sit out of UCLA’s home game against Cincinnati on September 1.

Man, those are some sweet NOTY candidates as well.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:18 PM ^
Bolu Olorunfunmi. The guy that will get the majority of snaps at RB due to Jamabo's suspension.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:14 PM ^
Soso Jamabo is the one who quoted Childish Gambino when he committed. "Asian girls everywhere."
August 27th, 2018 at 10:29 PM ^
I didn't know Tagaloa is an OL now. IIRC we recruited him at DT.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:12 PM ^
I looked up Colt Lyerla's stats since that is the only TE I remember. He played 3 seasons (2011-2013 *2013 was Helfrich).
In 2 seasons under Kelly he had 32 receptions for 540 yards. 11 TDs rec and 1 TD rushing.
In 2011 Lyerla and Paulson combined for 38 receptions for 585 yards and 11 TDs.

From the UCLA beat writer for the LA Times, the complete list:
UCLA announces in the midst of kid dropoffs that Soso Jamabo, Boss Tagaloa, Devin Asiasi, Moses Robinson-Carr, Osa Odighizuwa and Mo Osling have been suspended for opener against Cincinnati for unspecified violations of athletic department policies.

Another quote from the story:
UCLA has not released a depth chart for this weekend’s game at this time.
What will Tim Brando make of this lack of depth chart info travesty?
August 27th, 2018 at 12:11 PM ^
An atrocity unknown to mankind!!!
August 27th, 2018 at 12:39 PM ^
In the twitter link below there is a depth chart released. Wilton is in the OR category of QB. So he is anywhere from starter to third string.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:44 PM ^
Damn, was hoping to see him sport that ascot he mentioned last week.
August 27th, 2018 at 4:07 PM ^
In all fairness Brando made a very public (and sounded pretty sincere) apology about that during the broadcast of the Minnesota game. You probably missed it because of the color commentator guy shouting about how the Viper has no responsibilities every other play.

SOMEWHAT OT: If Wilton Speight starts for UCLA against Cincinnati in their opening game, he would become the starting QB for two different teams in non-conference games against Cincinnati in consecutive seasons. LINK1 LINK2 He also could gain the added distinction of becoming the first QB who played for Michigan to have two wins as a starter against a team directed by Head Coach Luke Fickell.
August 27th, 2018 at 5:42 PM ^
MORE SOMEWHAT OT: Speaking of former Michigan players who transferred to schools in the Golden State, Moe Ways might be starting at wide receiver for Cal, although Ian Bunting may be only second team at tight end for the Golden Bears. LINK And Moe has some nice words to say about his summer-workout partner, Wilton Speight.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:16 PM ^
Asiasi and Tagoloa were suspended 3 games, Jamabo 2.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:35 PM ^
Damn!
August 27th, 2018 at 12:28 PM ^
Come back!!! To hell with UCLA.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:45 PM ^
Seems to indicate his transfer may not have been in his best interest.

The two were reportedly caught pushing over buildings and terrorizing the public in downtown LA until a group of five teenagers with magical powers were finally able to subdue them through teamwork and witty banter. Reportedly, the five teens were able to become more self-aware, empathetic, and all around better people in the process.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:56 PM ^
Send those 5 teens to Columbus. They can use some.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:00 PM ^
Bummer.
Beat ND!
August 27th, 2018 at 1:29 PM ^
Oye!!
August 27th, 2018 at 1:34 PM ^
I thought Asiasi was our best freshman in his one season with us, and still wonder how much better our OL and offense would be now with his rare combination of power and speed at TE.
It's gotta be tough playing college football in California, where recreational weed is legal, same as alcohol, but still stigmatized as a social norm. And weed in no imaginable way is a performance enhancing drug, quite the opposite. Having said that, I'm being presumptuous to assume that was the issue for Asiasi and his Samoan bros at UCLA.

Worthy enough for you to enter and comment, instead of just ignoring a thread you might not like but is clearly labeled.
