This was a bad class that was losing its top commits long before the South Carolina game.  It was bad in August and got worse as the year went on.  A win over the Gamecocks wasn't going to change much at all.

But I do agree they need to get some results on the field next year.  There's a cloud over things now, and that's only going to grow and give opposing recruiters more ammo if they can't post a solid 10+ win season next year.  I mean, if you can't beat your other Big Ten rivals to get a sniff at the Big Ten champ game, and can't figure out your offensive line in year four...what exactly are you selling to recruits?

Bagmen.  Don't listen to the "they won the SEC and were in the chamipionship game!" crowd.  UGA's recruiting changed dramatically after Smart replaced Richt, and no way was that all above-board.

Wow, we didn't have a good day.  I'm glad it is over.  I will take some good news at some point in the future.  The last 2-3 months was just a series of dong punches on the field and in recruiting.

I gotta agree with the other dude up there. I've been a Michigan fan a long time and it hasn't been fun in a while. Even the good seasons and moments are earmarked by doom. We undo all the Hoke and RR in 2015 and have number 7 MSU beat and lose a game in a way a game has never been lost before. Beat top 10 Wisconsin? Newsome has his career ruined. Finally have a playoff quality team? Blows the season in Iowa City and has a win vs OSU ripped away be refs born in Ohio. I could go on, but I won't, it's exhausting.

"Iron sharpens Iron" and right now our team has the perception of being a big bowl of Jell-O.  We need a strong showing this season against our rivals to turn this ship around

Lmao this is just funny at this point. How ridiculous. I've been pretty level headed when it comes to Harbaugh and Michigan, but this is just pathetic. Idc that the last two classes were very good. This is truly a reminder of where people think our program is headed. Yes we can have a a bad recruiting season, but this really bad. We can't even hold on to guys that were committed for over a year while allowing our rivals to snatch up our recruits at the last second.

The only two games I can see them losing without the fan base going into full meltdown mode are Notre Dame and Ohio State.  And given the last year, I'm not even sure if ND is a loseable game.  Gotta win that one to get some momentum on the recruiting trail and quiet a lot of the grumbling out there.

To me Ohio State is loseable because they are simply a much better team and program and its on the road, and that's just going to be tough to win.  And if they take care of the rest of their buisness, they'd still be 10-2 or 11-1 after that one.  The "can't beat Ohio State" chants would be awfully loud but everything else would be on track.

Georgia is about to go on a 'Bama type run. These kids know that and want championships. While we have Don Brown and a great D, we don't have a recent winning pedigree to sway these kids over Kirby and a championship. If we play well next season, the recruits will start coming.

I don't think I've seen UM and a coaching staffed get pushed around this much in a recruiting cycle. They got punked multiple times.

Make or break season for JH in 2018.

Also when you go 8-4, lose to your two biggest rivals yet again, blow a 16 point lead with the Nation watching, and keep underwhelming coaches on staff. 2018 can solve a lot of things, they have a lot to prove.

Michigan/Harbaugh are the easiest big name program to negative recruit against.

"All flash, zero substance" is unfortunately highly accurate to describe his tenure; when you make that many headlines for superficial things but haven't won a big game in three years, the good recruits won't come.

2018 is make or break.

Everyone negatively recruits other top programs for top talent. Swinney punked Urban for Jackson - it happens. The issue is the staff’s incompetence to combat the noise this year. Who did JH pursue hard himself! Was Mattison even on the trail? Did Pep recruit anyone other than Doyle who flipped? What did Drevno do besides whiffing repeatedly on OTs? I actually think the D recruiting is piss poor. DC with a top squad for 3 years and a super aggressive style isn’t a big selling point? Who did Brown or Zorich close other than Sims and McGrone? No DTs? This cycle is a dud.

Well, the only consolation that I can find is that this puts the #1 recruiting class out of reach for Ohio State, and solidifies it for UGA...

yay...

Since June of 2016 he was a verbal. Now he’s out. Can’t win games without big recruits but they won’t come because you can’t win big games. They all had playing time coming this year and still chose elsewhere. This gem and staff need to go into extreme submarine mode hope Shea is eligible to play and come out and curb stomp ND next year. Never though going into year four would we feel like this. 2018 was supposed to be the take off year and he we are stuck at the gate!!!!
