Avengers 2: Age of Ultron

couldn't iron man just show up and kill that bad guy in like 2 seconds this movie makes no sense
October 24th, 2013 at 7:40 PM ^
Turns out this movie and Iron Man 3 take place during the same time period, so Tony was busy having panic attacks in Tennessee at this point.
October 24th, 2013 at 9:04 PM ^
+1 nerd
I really didn't like the last Iron Man, and that whole Tennesse plot line seemed ridiculous.
October 24th, 2013 at 4:53 PM ^
Looks solid, nice to see a modern version of the Falcon.

A bye week!

Oh no. They did it. They managed to turn Captain America anti-American. (Notice the title "Winter Soldier"?) Let me guess, the movie goes something like this: (1) Captain America is a naive idealistic solider willing to fight for his country; (2) He then learns -- much to his horror -- that the United States' government is really the one that is doing all the bad shit that he thought he was supposed to be fighting against; (3) In fact, the "threats" he thought he was fighting against are really a conspiracy hatched by someone named "Mick Baney" or "Nick Daney" and that we (i.e., America) are really what everyone needs to be worried about. Shit, how many times has Hollywood made this movie? I can normally take it, however, it just seems wrong to do it to Captain America even if foreign audiences will eat it up. Typical anti-American nonsense.

Naw it's just Bucky Barnes back from the dead looking like a night wing rip off. Marvel movies suck. All of them.
October 24th, 2013 at 6:24 PM ^
Most Marvel movies do suck. None of them have much of a plot and basically they are just eye candy. I'm not a huge fan of the actor, however, he was pretty solid in Sunshine. (A very underrated science fiction flick that is easily in my top 10 sci-fi movies since 1980). In any event, I guess I'm just tired of the typical Hollywood plot when it comes to this sort of thing.
October 24th, 2013 at 6:27 PM ^
It's amazing how little fame Sunshine has received given the cast of that film was pretty extraordinary.
October 24th, 2013 at 6:48 PM ^
Amazing movie except for the last 10 to 15 minutes or so. Actually, it was one of the first true science fiction movies in decades as it was what science fiction is supposed to be: cold, dark and without a happy ending.
October 24th, 2013 at 8:13 PM ^
Meh, Sunshine was great until it turned into Event Horizon. I guess they had to get a plot going somehow, but that was about as unimaginative a choice as they could have made.
October 24th, 2013 at 11:06 PM ^
...going to the moon or going to Mars? I wouldn't say Sunshine has a groundbreaking plot, but if is far from unimaginative.
October 25th, 2013 at 3:31 PM ^
I'd watch Alien again.
October 24th, 2013 at 11:02 PM ^
He did Trainspotting and Slumdog. Those films were better overall films, but the directing was better in Sunshine. Cillian Murphy played a good lead role.

I mean if you know the comics it's not, but if you're just seeing the movie it's not readily apparent from the trailer...
October 24th, 2013 at 6:42 PM ^
Captain America in the comics has often times gone against the US government. Captain America is an ideal not a advertising brand for the US government. He makes this point often in the comics and has more than once refused the moniker in defiance.
October 24th, 2013 at 6:50 PM ^
Yeah, I know. Comic book writers are lefties. Always have been . . . . always will be. Its just not very original and pretty stale at this point.
October 24th, 2013 at 7:17 PM ^
unamerican to question the morality of your government. that's more than a small part of being an average, informed citizen...

simmer down glenn beck. It deals with the Buckey Barnes (cap's best friend from the first movie who was 'killed" on the train. Turns out he didn't smash into the side of a mountain. The winter soldier story is Marvel canon.
FYI, marvel movies kick ass (except for daredevil...which was terrible for one of the best marvel super heros).
October 24th, 2013 at 9:49 PM ^
SOME Marvel movies kick ass. Many of the Fox produced Marvel movies have been flat out awful, I'm looking at you Wolverine, X-men 3, and Fantastic Four(s). Sony actually produces the Spiderman franchise and that series is about 50/50 good to bad as well. Most of the individual Avengers films have been good to great. The only ones I would define as kickass are Avengers, Iron Man, and maybe Iron man 3.
Just one humble cinephile's opinion though.

I wept at the eye-gouging horror that was Daredevil, one of my favorite characters as well.
Ben Affleck & Jennifer Garner still haunt my dreams.

They'll make a movie for your character in Phase 367.

Why has become routine for posters in a Michigan sports blog to post trailers for crappy Hollywood movies? This has NOTHING to do with anything relevant to this blog! Post it elsewhere.
October 25th, 2013 at 10:19 AM ^
Seconded. I don't come to this blog for news on crappy movies. Nor do I come here for posters' inevitably unimaginative and disappointing politics and nationalism.
October 25th, 2013 at 11:38 AM ^
Dude, lighten up a bit. This blog -- the entire blog -- is pretty much pointless and a waste of time. Don't get me wrong, I generally enjoy the content, including the posts, however, please don't pretend that a post on a movie and reactions to the trailer are somehow out of bounds. As for your claim that you "dont' come to this blog for news on crappy movies," I would merely point out that your are the 31st post on this topic. How did you manage to post your comment without clicking on the topic and then reading each of the 30 prevous posts? Just curious. Simply put, if you don't like the topic . . . don't click on it and read the posts in enough detail to be "disappointed" in them. In short, spare me.
October 25th, 2013 at 3:36 PM ^
To click a link that didn't interest you, go to the box to type information, and click on a post link for that. So what you're saying is you come on this blog to bitch and complain.

So... they did what half the people on this blog have been doing since the Penn State game?

Sorry, you were the 32nd post . . . .
