OT: Would you EVER marry a buckeye?

Submitted by WichitanWolverine on

The question can't get any simpler: would you or would you not ever, under any circumstances, marry a bucknut?

---MGoWarning----

The following comes from a very inebriated, very close-minded Wolverine.

Personally, no, I could not. Being as objective as possible, I could never see myself marrying a Buckeye. If I found out that the love of my life was a Buckeye, then maybe I could. But I do not see myself ever engaging in an intimate relationship with a Buckeye, knowing that she was one beforehand.

I don't normally promote prejudice, racism, or hatred toward any group of people, but I, honestly, feel nothing other than sheer hatred towards anything or anyone associated with the OSU community.

Again, I am shitfaced, but I am who I am. My parents met at the U (of M, we are over 100 years older than Miami so we are IMO the rightful owners of "The U") so without it, I wouldn't be alive.

I don't tell people when I meet them for the first time that I go to U of M and I don't expect someone reasonable from tOSU to do that either. If they do that they're waaay too into their school. I'm a proud member of the U of M and Mgoblog community, but those things doesn't define who I am. I would never marry a bucknut because their pryorities (see what I did there?) are so far out of whack, but I wouldn't rule out a reasonable chick who happens to have attended class at Ohio State.
Still, I don't think a reasonable OSU girl exists.

Edit: I realized I contradicted myself knda but I'm also drunk/insomniacing happy Santo Patricio's weekend everybody

Being frankly honest, when I moved out here (Kansas), it was very hard for me not to absurdly blurt out where I went to school (and how good our school is). When you live in Michigan, people know what UofM is and what it means to graduate from there. But around here all people can think is, "Oh, Detroit is one of the worst cities in the country." I try to cope with my UofM arrogance daily and at the same time struggle with the Detroit stereotype. I can't wait for the day I can move back home and turn things around for the better.

Basically, you are a better man that I.

You know, at work, one of the first questions people will ask is "Where did you go to school." Especially during football season. I proudly say I went to U of M, anticipating that they hate me for it. They typically don't but it's always fun when a girl went to OSU, bc you can tell as soon as she hears you say Michigan, her face goes bitter beer style.

the slum and hive of villainy that it is, and unsurprisingly, most of the people around are OSU fans. There are also a number of Blue Jackets fans.
I was looking online for a Wings scrub cap, but couldn't find one reasonably, so I just happened to look for a Michigan scrub cap. Found and bought. They're not going to be asking me where I went to school.

Now I'm going to get to hear people refuse to let me put them to sleep because I graduated from the wrong school.

for me that is a moot point. Im Married to a Cornhusker Native. Irony to the question, is that my grandfather is originally from clevland. So tell me, did any of you see the commercial on ESPN. In 2006, where the guy jumps from the car over college team differences?

only if she's hot enough and nice enough to be worth the trouble.

for example, if this woman wanted to marry you, but told you she was a buckeye fan, could you refuse?

i wouldnt have the willpower.

I too am married, so unless something changes, I don't have to worry about that. But If I weren't married, I couldn't see myself doing it. I went to school in (Sl)Ohio and I don't like much about the state at all. So if I had to visit inlaws and converse with Bucknuts more often than I have to now because of my frat brothers, I'd take up a hobby like crystal meth. I already get way too many e-mails about all things that are Ohio right now because we are down at Michigan. What's almost as bad, is that Cleveland makes fun of Detroit. At least Detroit's river never caught fire. Sorry about that, just thinking about it made my Disdain for Ohio come back to the forefront of my brain all at once!

i honestly almost did.. we never ended up working out though, and that's probably a good thing. as weird as it sounds i believed the relationship was doomed to a degree because both of her parents were OSU alums and she was a big fan.

i have zero problem with Buckeye fans that understand Michigan and have respect. i grew up in Ohio and I can promise you that MOST Buckeye fans have no idea about how great of an institution UofM is as a whole. about 90% of the time UM is referred to as scUM, dirty, crappy, etc. they act as if OSU is by far a superior school compared to Michigan, which is f'ing laughable. i cant explain how ignorant Ohio residents are when it comes to UofM. all they know is that they hate Michigan, and Michigan is dirty. they are nuts.

My lil sis met one, married him, converted to the darkside, and is now unhappy. We don't talk to her much. I was long gone in the military when this happened or i would have stopped it. It is confirmed the two don't mix. Go Blue!

under one of those weird scenarios, like where a guy holds a gun to your head and says I'll make you marry two buckeyes if you don't marry a buckeye....

my wife and her family are huge buckeye fans, it almost ended our relationship twice. i was born and raised in ohio so its hard for me not to find a chick who isnt a buckeye. She is actually coming to the spring game this year and she has came with me to the last two uofm and ostate games in ann arbor. Plus she is hot so it was hard not to marry her.

I guess the question for me would have to be "Is she willing to convert?". If she is willing to Go Blue then I suppose I could look past her past. Marrying a bucknut that would not convert would be like marrying a prostitute that was still working. No matter what I would always feel like she was cheating on me.
