OT - Which Non-Michigan NCAA Football Games Do You Plan To Attend?

Submitted by UNCWolverine on

While nothing beats a big matchup at the Big House I very much enjoy attending games on other campuses across the country. What non-Michigan games do you plan to attend this fall? Here is my 2016 and my planned 2017 lineup:

2016

LSU vs. Wisconsin @ Lambeau

Flordida @ Tennessee

Ooops, forgot one:

Stanford @ Cal

2017

LSU @ Mississippi State

Auburn @ LSU

Oklahoma @ OkState

And more than likely at least one USC or UCLA game if I feel like attending a local game that Saturday.

What's your list?

Once in a while, I accept the invite of a friend who went to EMU to take in a game at Rynearson, and usually this is for the explicit purpose of seeing if it is still possible to sneak a drink or three inside because Eastern Michigan football.

We're actually going to be in Chicago during the Northwestern / Bowling Green game, and my wife's aunt - who works there - is trying to get some tickets for that game. It doesn't promise to be very interesting necessarily, but it is fun to take in a game when you happen to be in the neighborhood anyway.

in part because BG v WVU in men's soccer is also that weekend. Buddy is a BG grad. Also going to a WMU game or two. Also going to watch us destroy the Fighting Flecks and keep the Brown Jug. Will drink at the Brown Jug to celebrate.

Myself and 3 other buddies have a tradition of 1 random college football game a year.  There are 2 Notre Dame Fans and 1 MSU fan in the group, but we all met in a new city and bonded over College Football.  This will be year 6 and so far we've visited Arkansas, Texas, Georgia, Auburn, and Iowa.  We're off to Utah @ Oregon to get some Pac-12 flavor this fall.

Always fun to check out a new tailgaiting atmosphere and we quickly get invited in when people are confused why a bunch of midwesterners are bumming around their campus!

Since my S.O. is an LSU alum, I've had the pleasure of attending a couple of LSU games in Baton Rouge (both at night), and another LSU road game at Syracuse. This season we have our eyes on LSU visiting Tennessee at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.

Neyland Stadium

Being a college football fan at heart, I am really stoked to see this game, as this venue has been on my Bucket List for some time. What's more, because of the ridiculous way the SEC works its scheduling, LSU visits Knoxville once every 14 years!

So I sometimes will go up to the North Korean erector set if the game is good enough and falls on a non-home Saturday. This year I am attending MSU vs Notre Dame and while I may dislike both schools, the fact it's an 8p kickoff should make for some fun tailgating that I will go to wearing a Hawaiian shirt since I don't want to be mistaken for cheering for either school.

I did Auburn at LSU in 2013 and it was a great, albeit rain-soaked, experience and game. The rain eventually stopped by the 2nd half, but it was warm enough that attendance remained impressively high.

One of the many memorable sideshows were two completely inebriated Auburn fans (guys) behind us shouting out a bunch of trash, and receiving much in return from all around. When I turned around to look at them, I could see that they were both barefoot! I wasn't quite sure what to make of that. Then later on, some sort of squabble broke out behind us, and it turns out to be the same two Auburn guys going at ... each other. One was shouting to anyone that would listen that his brother just bit him! It was hysterical.

USC at Colorado.  I always go to one CU game each year since I live out here.

I am debating going to Oregon State at Colorado State since it is the opening of CSU's new 42,000 seat stadium.  This is CSU's attempt to try to find a way into a P5 conference.

My dad and I live in Nashville and we are trying to go to every SEC Stadium for a game. He likes the SEC and Bama (I know I know) But it is a good bonding experience for us.

We've been to Ole Miss, Miss St, and Bama. This year we are going to Texas A&M vs. SC on Michigan's bye week.

We have also been to every MLB stadium so we wanted to try a new task.

Might go to a local school for a day game if UM plays a night game or something.

my brother lives in the Dallas area. We were born and raised in Michigan. Anyhow, we attended the Red River shootout last year and I proceeded to get absolutely sunburned to hell. Good venue, and great times though. It's fun watching the cannons shoot off in person.

Sorry, no money in the world could make me want to go to watch FSU steamroll UF again on the day of The Game. Or any game on that day for that matter. Besides maybe the Iron Bowl.

You either:

  • Miss The Game
  • Miss the end of The Game to get to FSU vs. UF on time, or go late.
  • Have to sit in another team's stadium after another Michigan loss to OSU, which would be miserable.
  • Fail to be able to celebrate a victory over OSU because instead you're sitting with a bunch of Gators.

My son will be a freshman at Saginaw Valley State University this fall. Although it's not at the level of B1G, SEC, etc... games, it will be fun to attend a couple games with him.

Dad and I head to a game on the road every year. This year is Louisville vs Kent St. Not a great game but only weekend we could manage. Was supposed to be for Louisville and Clemson but a family event came up that weekend. Decided to keep Louisville because we'd set up all the bourbon tasting already, just delayed it a week.

'86 Clemson grad, haven't been back to Clemson in 15 years. A buddy in Greenville is setting everything up (tix, tailgate, etc.). I'd rank Death Valley right up there with The Big House as one of the greatest football venues one can experience. Perfect football weather in SC in November. Also going to Dallas, believe me that two road trips in a season are costing me big time here at home :)

Every year.  Get the kids, we go to the Holiday on Ice here in Charlotte and skate.  Hit Matt's Chicago Dog for a meal and then head to the game.  Wrap it up with skating again after if we feel up to it.  Been doing this for about 12 years now back when it was the Meineke bowl here.  My goal was to instill a want to go to college in the kids by showing that you can have fun there too.  It's also why we take a trip to the Big House for a game every year.  Air Force this year.

I'm taking my oldest daughter, who's 5, to Atlanta this September for a Georgia Tech game. I've always wanted to see a game at Bobby Dodd Stadium and a handful of other college football stadiums.

None, since I am going to every Michigan game except Florida. Went to Arlington when we played Alabama and the Citrus Bowl when we played Florida so a Florida game in Arlington would kind of seem like deja vu X 2.

The two California vs. Texas matchups!

Texas A&M at UCLA (Sunday night of opening weekend, won't have to miss any other games)

Texas at USC (Michigan has a nooner and this will be a night game Pacific Time)

Trying to get to a game this year in Tallahassee. Tickets are really cheap, surprisingly, for a team in the top 5. Looking at NC State on Sept 23.
