OT: What music have you been listening to lately?

For me, it's The Black Keys. I gotta rep these guys. They're a 2 piece band and play some absolutely rugged blues rock. Check them out.

Did you guys notice the number of MMB members wasn't mentioned this year? As in, "...presenting the 234-member Michigan Marching BAND...bannnnnnd take the field!" This year it was just, "...presenting the Michigan Marching BAND! Bandddddd take the field!"

Haven't been as sold on some of their others.

Lately I've been listening to Guided by Voices, Robyn Hitchcock, Slayer, the Fall, Jay Reatard and St. Vincent.

The Black Keys are awesome. First time I heard them was on NHL 08 i think "Just Got to Be" was on the soundtrack and it was awesome so i downloaded more of their stuff. Definitely one of my favorite bands. They recently just came out with a collaborative album with some rappers, most notably Mos Def, where they play the background music for the rap..its called Blakroc and its pretty interesting.
Other than that:
New Vampire Weekend (and old too i guess)
The Strokes
The Doors
Explosions in the Sky
White Stripes
Arctic Monkeys

Did you go to Lolla this year? Fleet Foxes and Decemberists were playing back to back in basically the same area. Good shows. Followed up by Kings of Leon and it was a great ~6 hour stretch of music.

Right now I'm listening to a lot of MGMT's Oracular Spectacular and Lil Wayne's new mixtape - No Ceilings.

Band of Horses
Vampire Weekend
Panic at the Disco- Pretty Odd Album, took me a while to get into it, it reminds me of Srgt. Pepper. Not saying they are close to the Beatles.
& The Shins

I stopped discussing this kind of thing when a kid tried to choke me while I was in my bunk at a summer camp for telling him he should listen to more oldies. The conversation went like this (not exaggerated whatsoever):

"You haven't lived until you've listened to oldies!"
*While trying to choke me* "You don't know anything about my life! You don't know how many times I've tried to kill myself!"

It was an interesting week. The whole situation became incredibly hilarious after the fact, and it makes for a good story.

As far as the music goes, if pressed, I'd probably recommend the band "fun." right now. Fantastic music with more thoughtful lyrics than most. Not for everyone, but I like it.

I go for some Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Definitely my favorite band. I'm a fan of the Foo fighters, too. Kanye West is always good. Other than that, I throw in some rap and other classic rock songs from here or there. RHCP is where it's at, though. Can't go wrong there.

Pandora stations around Steve Miller Band, RHCP, Jay-Z. I also love 90s rock.

And say what you want, but I'm hooked on beyonce's "Sweet dreams" song, I have to hear it at least once... or maybe it's the video....

Yes, that just happened.
