OT: What music are you listening to?

Submitted by Magnus on February 20th, 2019 at 1:09 PM

It's a slow day, so I'm going to bring back an oldie but a goodie:

What music are you listening to lately? I'm a music nut and I'm always curious about where I can expand my horizons. These are the artists/albums I've been listening to lately

Pedro the Lion's new album "Phoenix"
Geoff Farina's "The Wishes of the Dead"
Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats self-titled album
Kids See Ghosts self-titled release
Weezer's "Teal Album"

Been hitting Kid Cudi - Man on the Moon a lot lately. Lake Street Dive, and this British guy called Rømans (this track Uh Huh), and The Neighborhood - Sweater Weather, Mayer Hawthorne (A2 guy) - The Walk are some other frequently played.

Listening to her album on youtube, released this week; this was the early single release. Great song. She has really grown into a great lyricist. I also love her song with Chad Kroeger when they were married called Let Me Go.

They were a heck of a Canadian power couple for the 2 years they were together! Thankfully for everyone, they are still good friends.

Also as a side note, Avril suffered through the worst of the symptoms from Lyme disease. Took a couple years to recover, but now she's back!

And some dude in South America started a blog rumour that Avril died and was replaced with a clone. She has obviously denied those rumours.

My very first concert was Springsteen in Crisler Arena on October 3, 1980.  I was only 15 years old and had to meet my mom for a ride home at 11:30.....so I missed it when Bob Seger came on stage to sing "Thunder Road".  I don't harbor any ill-feelings 39 years later.

Almost forgot Chet Baker  and Miles Davis who i have been listening to a ton lately.  Mainly on Vinyl.  have a whole vintage set up to listen to vinyl through a Marantz 2240 receiver, pioneer PL-71 turntable, and Acoustic Research AR-4 speakers.  threw an ortophone red needle on the turntable too.  phenomenal sound.  i'm a bit of an audiophile.

yeah we both went through michigan at the same time.  he was in the music school. a few years ago he had an injury and then got hooked but is now 100% clean and working at fixing the bs.  he literally called me to tell me he was clean and whatnot because i disapprove of that bs.

My favorite artists are Tony McGuinness, Jono Grant, and Paavo Siljamäki, forming the group Above & Beyond. EDM is my primary genre. It's the world's genre, actually.

There were a lot of really good performances at the GRAMMYs last week - by people who usually put on great performances, but the surprise moment had to be this collaboration!
