OT What's your favorite candy?

Submitted by corundum on

So is it OT season yet? Yes? No? Maybe?

Either way, I'm having an absolutely fucked day at work because our IT department's incompetency is Dave Brandon as CEO level. I thought I would kill some time by starting a heated MgoBoard debate.

What is your favorite candy and why is it Peanut M&M's?

Concept is great! Packaging is great!  Each individual stick looks great!  First 30 seconds is great!  Then the happy clown in your mouth turns into Pennywise and bites your arm off (ostensibly the arm you put the enclosed tattoo on).

You may be happy to hear the WSJ reported that Necco is probably going out of business unless a buyer wants to save that confection (a la Twinkies a few years ago).  What will builders of gingerbread houses do for roof tiles?   Many are stocking up now.

You know how when you'd go trick-or-treating, and you'd come home with a pillowcase full of loot? And how little by little, its contents would decrease, until there'd be nothing left but the uneatable crap, and sometime around Christmas, your Mom would finally make you throw the rest of it away?

I guarantee that circus peanuts were the one candy that landed in the trash.

I remember those. Every couple of years I'd find one in the bag, wonder "Why don't I eat these?" and try one. Thirty seconds later I'd split it in the trash and think, "Oh right - THAT'S why!"

One thing that was never as good as it looked was a popcorn ball. If you got one freshly made, sure. But if it sat in the bag for a few days and got stale, it was like trying to eat a hunk of styrofoam covered in glue. Not worth the effort.
