OT: Welcome to the Big Ten Nebraska

Submitted by buckeyeh8er on

On July 1st (aka tomorrow) Nebraska will officially be the 12th member of the Big Ten.  Will be a great addition.

...they had been a member for years judging by the B1G 10 Network's kissing up to Big Red.  It even bugs me when they have greatest lists and include Penn State players who never played a Big 10 game.

That has been a common complaint, but I understand what they are doing. They are making sure that PSU fans feel like the B10 Network has been filming their games for decades. It is part of the business model. They may do something similar with Nebraska as well. I shrug my shoulders and get over it.

Welcome to the B10 Nebraska.

been lots of sportsmanship, good natured rivalry,  and competition extended to us by all the B1G fan sites. Will be a great game in AA this fall with many more to come. Hail Victors!

When do we get a link on the Big Ten Blogs sidebar ?

Welcome Nebraska, and thank you for completely taking up the BTN for the ENTIRE WEEKEND.

Oh well, I think I've seen the UofM-Illinois game enough times by now.

I, for one, welcome our corn-husking compatriots. Good luck in the B10 and as part of your initiation, denounce your share of the 1997 National Title. Do it, pledge!

folks take their football serious, we've got a bar in Lincoln and game day you will see more corn fed dip spittin' cowboy killer smokin' Budweiser drinkin' redneck Americans than at any game in the USA

Ya welcome Nebraska. Now screw you. Prepare to finish second in the division behind Michigan!

Nebraska will never make it in the Big Ten. They run the spread, anyone who knows anything should know that it won't work. I am looking forward to seeing Denard make Pelini's head explode.

I love Nebraska.  For years I have felt that their fans match us better than anyone else, minus whoever is hacking/cheating us in the ESPN poll.  The Irish are too high and mighty, TX is a bunch of prima donnas, Pitt and Rutgers aren't all around good matches, MO doesn't belong in the conversation, but Nebraska represents that same values that have made MI and we hold dear.  They just flat out love their team and want a program that reflects the best of what America is, hard working folks that strive to get ahead, but strive with integrity.

You will all get a kick to hear of how my buddy is spending today at his NE call center.  He runs a very professional banking call center mind you, but they are all dressed in Husker jerseys, banners are up welcoming the team to the Big Ten, and will host a celebratory BBQ to commemorate today's move.  Talked to him for 30 mins yesterday and he was bubbling about being part of the Big Ten, seeing if NE has what it takes to compete in a conference that has no give me games, and if their QB can find his bearings to make a push for a Championship game their first year in.  Time will tell, but I think this is a great fit for our league, and makes sure that the Big Ten continues to be the leaders and best.

"What would Bo have thought" quite often since all the in-fighting started.  In my opinion, today he would be thinking something like "At least it's not those god damned Irish."  Hope this day makes you look down and smile, coach.
