OT: Week 17 NFL open thread

Submitted by MGoCooper on

Big games today, a lot is still on the line in a few matchups.

Cowboys vs Giants- Winner wins the NFC East

Lions vs Packers-  Aaron Rodgers is inactive today, giving the Lions a chance to clinch the 5th seed. It would also be the Lions first victory in Green Bay in 19 years.

Bengals vs Ravens- Huge game for both teams. The Bengals are in a win and you're in situation. For the Ravens, they could go from a first round bye, to the 5th seed, having to win three straight road games.

Colts vs Jaguars-A colts victory, kicks them out of the first pick, assuming as expected, that the Rams lose to the 49ers.

Rams vs 49ers- Rams clinch the 1st overall pick, with a loss, and a Colts win.

The 49ers and the Saints are still fighting for the first round bye, but with the 49ers only needing a win to clinch, against the lowly Rams, this point seems moot.

Happy New Years to all of you great guys on Mgoblog, enjoy some great food and football today.

It's an abomination that there's no college football today. Why am I forced to watch bad teams play the good teams that are all resting their starters in place of the ROSE BOWL and the like?

The fudge packers blow. I like the NFL, but would much rather watch bowl games today. Many of us work tomorrow! I would rather watch paint dry than three fudge packers play without Rodgers. Didn't the packers worship farva (supertroopers)?

Woodson, Matthews, Starks and Buluga also are all inactive. This should more than cancel out Green Bay's weather advantage if the Lions play well.

a) Lions defense getting schooled by a backup QB

b) Referees confirming a call that was absolutely indisputable

c) Green Bay bumpkins chanting and hollering over a game that is meaningless to them

These are the worst refs I have ever seen.  Both fumble calls were ridiculous.

As I type this justice was served.  Pick by Smith.

Fucking redneck officials blowing the last challenge may have cost the Lions a touchdown due to no challenges.

Kill these guys.

And we get jobbed by those BS fumble calls.  Now the Lions lose a TD because they can't challenge.  Great catch by Titus Young.

What a bunch of zebra stripped bums. Someone should find them after the game and kick their ass. Fuck them. I beside myself. This is chicken shit.

officials as well. No excuse for them not to buzz down to the officials to look at the play again. The replay booth had plenty of time to look at it. No idea what they are being paid for, that is inexcuscable.

The play does not have to be challenged to be reviewed, and quite frankly that shouldn't have required a challenge even if they had one.

Ask a 3 year old. Did he catch it? Did he get 2 feet down? Yes and yes. How the hell can the nfl watch this shit go down and be ok with it? I don't give a flying fuck if the packers are your premier team, calling fumbles that aren't, and incomplete passes that are touchdowns makes your league look stupid as hell.

Do these chickenshit refs care AT ALL that they have fucked the Lions in the ass when there is incidental contact on a pass that was arguably uncatchable? NOPE. 21-yard penalty to set up another GB score.

THESE FAT IDIOTS ARE BEING TOLD TO SCREW THE LIONS! I DON'T CARE HOW CRAZY I SOUND!

the booth could buzz down to the officials on any play to look at again, regardless of whether there is a challenge or not. Or is that not the case?
