OT: USA vs Panama Gold Cup Semi Final Open Thread
The US Men's National Team is in action again tonight.
Semi Final at Houston's Reliant Stadium Kick off at 7:00 (Fox Soccer Channel)
The USA faces Panama whom they lost to during group play. Reports are that Donovan will be back in the starting lineup for Bodoya, while Juan Agudelo will start in place of Altidore (who is out 4-6 weeks).

Guess I don't get why Donovan is not starting again???
The balls only as good as the run and the run is only as good as the ball. Both were great in that instance. That is what Donovan needs to be doing, finding space and using his speed to score or set up finishers.
GOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!! ESSTAAAAAADDDOOOOOSSSS UNIDOS!!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAL
American announcers really do suck. Could that goal call have been drier?
"Donovan centers.......and the US scores...."
Mexican annoucers = full of win!
Yeah, watch Pablo whatshisname on Univision. I watched nearly every world cup game on Univision in 2010. It was a very fun experience
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
What a great ball from Freddie to Donovan, who is a clinical.
His fresh legs and sometimes good touch remind us why he was so touted.
Freddy Adu has come on and really looked better than he's ever looked before. Great decisions on the ball
Freddy looks good.
soccer is way too influenced by people faking injuries. seriously, get up.
This was the perfect situation for Adu to come in and shine. Against an inferior opponent where the US lacked spark, he's exactly what they needed. If we see him against Mexico, he won't look near as good. He may have played himself into getting the supersub against Mex in the final, but this game really was the perfect place for him to make an impact.
He's obviously improved over the last couple years in decision making and maturity, but he still has a very long way to go before he deserves to be on a full strength US 18 man roster.
Dempsey and USA will beat whoever wins the next game.
As I said above, I'm not a Bradley fan, but I have to give credit where credit is due. Bringing in Adu looks like a stroke of genius. He looked fantastic.
It wasn't pretty, but they did a good job of not opening themselves up and providing consistent pressure. This final should be good. I see Mexico winning, but the US can grit out wins against anyone.
It is important to remember that he is younger than Bedoya and Klejstan who for many people seem to be real newcomers to the USMNT. Adu just celebrated his 22nd birthday at the start of June and still has the talent and time to make himself into a very good player.
It's hard not to root for this kid. You can only imagine what it's like to be told that you're the next soccer-Jesus at the age of 14. The kid should have never been playing pro at that young age and you can only hope that he finds the right place to mature and become a man as well as a better player. He said all the right things in his post-match interview, and I have to say I'm really rooting for this 22 yr. old.
People have written him off because his name has been known for such a long time. I think he is really coming into his own now, which might be too late for majority of the impatient fans.

<br>The great thing is he is finally getting consistent playing time.
I hope Adu can get better so he'll become a solid contributor down the road for USMNT. He offers creativity at midfield that USMNT is lacking. This will allow Dempsey to move up to striker spot in which he can finish from this spot which is something that USMNT really don't have, a striker who can put the ball into the net.
I like your post.
Is this Mexico or AC Milan?
I thought it was Germany against Honduras:

Hey I've missed all the games so far due to work and just signed on here late tonight and got the play by play and then looked into some other game results and saw that Onyewu hasn't been playing. Just wondering if anyone on here could let me know whats going on with him. Says that he's on the roster but haven't got any minuets is this due his past patella tendon injury or a new one or just passed on the depth charts?
