I just went through and pulled all the Big10 schools to compile this list myself but here it the link to the National Rankings: http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities. Big Ten has a pretty good showing in public universities. Of course, U of Cal dominated as it always does.

My family got a kick out of when my sister got rejected by Carolina but got into UVA and Wellesley.

From a hiring perspective, if a new college grad has an Ivy League or Big Ten school on his resume, that application got moved ahead of everyone else.  When we looked at applicants with grad school degrees, we didn't care where the applicant went to undergrad.

BTW I got accepted at Harvard and Yale, rejected by Georgetown...which is way lower on the rankings list. Who knows how these things work.

My brother in-law's father went to Georgetown for undergrad and law school and later taught law there. When I told him I was interested in going there for law school he told me "don't bother, you have a much better chance at getting into a NYU, U of Chicago, Berkley, etc. before Georgetown". He explained it to me that law school there is like an elite club and its much more about who you know than your academic success.

UMLS is #7 in latest law rankings.

Undergrad is way underrated, as several ranked ahead of Michigan (e.g., Tufts, USC) are not peer institutions when compared as univerisities.

It may not have helped that Georgetown is a Jesuit school and one of the main reasons I had a great law school resume is because i've been published in some pretty decent philosophy journals (alongside my profs), and the content was not kind to religious beliefs. But who knows, thats just speculation.

Don't worry, they'll always be last in my heart.

Plus, it's not like they're un-last because they passed someone.  They're like the ugly girl in the group who gets happy because the group made a new friend who was just a little bit uglier.  But it doesn't make the other girl any less ugly, and it doesn't make the boys want her any more.
