Florida commits with Michigan offers are...

RB Mike Blakely, WR Javares McRoy, LB Ryan Shazier, CB Valdez Showers, WR Ja'juan Story, and CB Nick Waisome.

Showers was the most interested.  I don't really expect that this news will have much of an effect on these guys, especially if Dan Mullen or Charlie Strong is hired to replace Meyer.

We might have an outside shot at a guy like Waisome, but that's about it.

Several people have mentioned poaching players from Floridas recruiting class. I just took a quick look at there class didn't see any guys that had shown previous intrest in Michigan. Any recruiting buffs know if this is correct or were we ever in on any of there guys?

Edit- question answered above thanks.

is there any possibility Meyer might be stepping down due to an NCAA issue? ANY? not that i want florida 2 be omg skrewed. but there's been so much weird shit surrounding that program the past 3-4 years...

Meyer will coach his last game for UF in the Gators’ Outback Bowl matchup vs. Penn State on January 1st in Tampa, Fla.

I wonder if he is done with Florida or done coaching in general. If this is due to health concerns, I hope he sticks with his decision. If this is to coach Notre Dame, I hope he rots.

From Chris Mortensen's Twitter account:

There are no dots to be connected on Broncos and Urban Meyer.

Also:

It is over in Florida. It will stick this time.

Certainly sounds like a guy who is trying to focus on his life. Feel bad for him, he's a darn good football coach who's realizing there are more important things, like being around for his family.

Do you feel bad because he will be under scrutiny for an early retirement?  Your statement came across as you feel bad because he realized the more important things in life.

I meant I feel bad for him because he clearly can't handle both raising his family and being at the top of his profession. The health issues last year took a toll on him too, although it doesn't seem that is why he's stepping down. I totally support his decision to be there for his kids. It's an admirable decision that more coaches probably have seriously considered but haven't been able to pull the trigger. Having won 2 national titles already probably does make it a bit easier to do, though.

Sorry for the confusion, that was a stream of consciousness-type sentence.

Will be the #1 Canidate.  Let's hope he is hired with in the week.

I'm glad our coach doesn't run the spread and can't recurit in Florida.  Wait a second.........

DBrandon could justifyably accelerate his head coaching decision by saying that with all of the other vacancies and coaching changes occuring, it is in the best interest of the UofM to accelerate its' decision and announce a coaching change now.  If RRod is to stay then he can say that now and take advantage of the recruiting chaos.  If he is to hire JH, then he can say RRod is coaching the Bowl Game as a way to say goodbye to the team and start looking for a new job.  Only 27 +/- 1 days of this drama either way.
