OT: Unpopular opinions and guilty pleasures, Music edition.
From past music topics on the blog, it's clear the mgocommunity has good taste in music. Now I want to talk about your not too popular opinions on music. Guilty pleasures edition, and those artists you like but bury in your playlists and don't necessarily make public. I'll start.
I like earlier Radiohead when they embraced melody and traditional song construction more than current Radiohead.
I love the first Boston album.
I dismiss Journey except when any of several songs pop up.
Come on Eileen is awesome.
Have at it.
I have three of her CD's.
I also like the Indigo Girls, espcially their live recordings.

I dismiss out of hand anyone whose favorite Beatles album is the White Album.
John was the greatest of the Beatles.
Dani California is the best RHCP song.
Stevie Nicks' live version of Landslide is terrible compared to the studio version.
I listened to Led Zeppelin more in the 1980s than in all the decades since combined.
Guilty pleasure song: "No Release" by Rainbow. Fabulous guitar opening.

upvote for dani california. Frusciante killed that

Phish is the best live band currently playing, and perhaps ever.
Suck it normies.

Greatest live band of all time. What they just did at MSG was unrivaled in music history.
13 shows(26 sets of music) in the most iconic venue in America over only 17 days. Not one song repeated over that span. Was like watching my favorite team win a championship.

Put her voice in a rock band and maybe she's good.

was released in 1987 and Tom Sawyer by Rush was released in 1981. Many of Iron Maiden and Metallica's seminal hits were released in the 80s (or do you not include heavy metal in the rock genre?) So I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. (but that's the whole point of the thread, so congrats, I guess.)

The 70's band in question was Slade. Look 'em up, they were awesome.
I think "Bohemian Rhapsody" is overrated and sucks and I think "American Pie" is just garbage. Neil Young sucks too. His voice sounds like a dying cat trying to sing.
Rhapsody overrated? Um, maybe.
American Pie garbage? Too strong. Sure, played to death over the decades (every time the DJ needed to go to the can and grab a cup of coffee), but not bad enough to qualify for the garbage pile.
Neil Young = dying cat? Oh, hell yes. Painful voice - like Shove-an-icepick-into-your-ear painful.
+1 for the first Boston album, absolutely.
I'm not too ashamed to admit that despite all their cheesy, overly-dramatic lyrics and themes, Queensryche can still ring my bell.

I'm only ~30 years old and LOVE me some Gordon Lightfoot.

have an upvote for good taste - Gordon Lightfoot rocks; "If You Could Read My Mind" is one of my favorite songs
Funny - I just heard that song the other day when I was flipping stations in the car. One of those songs you didn't realize how good it was until years later.

Jai Ho from Slumdog Millionaire is one of my all-time favorites.

- The drum fill from "In the air tonight" is alright, but in all actuality, "Easy Lover" represents the zenith of Phil Collins' legacy. On a related note, to me, Earth Wind and Fire shouldn't be anywhere near a guilty pleasure thread - it's universally acknowledged that they're tighter than a nun's keister and hotter than Danerys Targaryen's pets.
- Don't even care about Lady Gaga's aversion to pants: she's legitimately talented and while her last few albums haven't been as impactful as her first 2.5, 'Bad Romance' is a near perfect electronic pop composition that's got a ton of interesting things going on and stands up to repeated listens.

I hate the Beatles, never liked Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd or Rolling Stones.
is a touch overrated and the personality cult around him is pretty bizarre.
The Beach Boys made some very good music, and Pet Sounds is a phenomenal album. However, the man lost his mind (and voice) soon thereafter and very little of note came out of the decades thereafter. He's still touring, heck all the surviving Beach Boys are still touring and it's sad because they're all shadows of what they used to be.
"Highway Don't Care"
Tim McGraw? yes
Taylor Swift? yes
The country guy who can lay down a '80s hairband-quality guitar riff? yes
John Denver ... and I'm too old to care who knows it.
Nickelback actually has some decent songs... not saying they're great or anything.
The Beatles are far and away my favorite band/artist and I'm 19. All these frat bros are blasting Brocolli and I'm just wondering what the hell is happening and why.
