I am beginning to wonder if Alvarez has already taken the job in a de facto sense.  There has to be a reason why two coaches have made less-than-lateral moves in three seasons.

I actually don't think the Beilema situation was as crazy as most people here think. At the time, he was somewhere between Pelini and Loyd Carr. He couldn't win a rose bowl, he blew their chance at a NC by losing to MSU, and he was did not have a very likable personality. I did not see him lasting more than another year or two thier anyways.

that I talked to a guy who knows a Wisconsin insider who said the reason Bielema left was he and Alvarez "didn't get along".  Take that for what it's worth.  But, it's hard to believe that the new coach leaving after only two fairly successful seasons is for some other reason.  Too coincidental.

What I was thinking also WIW. You have both with these kids all season but can't have either coach the bowl game?

The control factor in Madison has to be why everyone is fleeing the scene.

Depending on what happens with the Michigan and Wisconsin hires, it is looking like the B1G is getting worse. Nebraska clearly has downgraded with Riley, so if Michigan and Wisconsin don't get some top line coaches, the conference will take another step back.

I thing this thing with Alzarez is a two edged sword. I think his presence has helped UW maintain it's success and identity through two coaching changes. But maybe it is also a reason why those changes are happening.

I live Madison and can't stand Barry. He's the ultimate big money schmoozer. All he does is hob-nob with the local rich guys and leverage his position to make insider business deals. He's also got himself and every coach at UW on every car commercial in town.

I had heard from friends down in SEC country about ads and deals the coaches do down there which can bring in quite a bit of money on the side - didn't know it was prevalent up in the BIG TEN. At least in Michigan, haven't ever seen a UM or MSU coach do an ad except for a charitable event or a university related matter.

...he could coach the team unless he was in the building, watching film, practice, interacting with players, etc. throughout the season.  I'd be willing to bet that both Bielema and Andersen left b/c they felt micromanaged.
