UNC is a legitimately fine public institution that doesn't for a minute seriously make sure it's key sports teams operate in a manner that serves the stated mission of the university. It's a peak to the future I'f school don't control what's could happen

60 damaged carpet tiles necessitated replacing the carpet throughout the entire facility? I thought the point of carpet squares was so that you didn't have to replace the entire carpet? Seems like Duke really went a little far with that one.

Actually it would depend how old the carpet was. I sold carpet for several years, if a pattern goes out of print there's nothing you can do aside from ebay/craig's list/etc. If that carpet style is gone, you would have to replace it all to keep a uniform look.

That being said they should have bought at least 100+ backup squares when they installed it for situations like this. A good salesman would have got the add-on :P

Actually, incredibly likely.

I work in a UofM buiding that is not even 20 years old. We have about 6 different tile styles scattered around the building - because the tiles started failing about 2 years after install, and every time they replace some (about every 2-3 years) they can't get ones that match the ones from 2 years ago... much less the ones from 20...

I grew up HATING UNC. Everything that people hate about Duke now was true about Carolina then. However, as much as I hated them, I respected the way Dean did things the right way. By force of will and cult of personality, this was true across the whole athletic department. Not of that applies in Chapel Hill anymore. It's sad. There are very few schools like Michigan anymore. As painful as the last couple of seasons have been, these teams lived up to the high standards of the University. Play hard, study hard, be a good citizen. There have been exceptions, but they were dealt with and not ignored. I'm so Proud to be a Wolverine. I hope that our high standards are never compromised.
