The 10 story from Yahoo? Or is this something else?
August 14th, 2011 at 11:28 PM ^
If Yahoo is going to release the 10 story, it had better break soon, if they want to keep their stated timetable.
August 14th, 2011 at 11:45 PM ^
Yea and I've been waiting for this for fucking ever.
August 14th, 2011 at 11:52 PM ^
Yeah, no shit.

Don't forget that the dolphin puncher published the "practicegate" farce/teapot tempest a single week before the first game. you get maximum impact by publishing closer to the start of the season.

I can't imagine Yahoo has been working on this for the last 8 months. I think the 10 will be a more investigative piece than this.
August 15th, 2011 at 9:30 AM ^
Pardon my ignorance, what is the "10 story" from Yahoo?
August 15th, 2011 at 11:01 AM ^
Robinson eluded that this Tressel story was a 6 and that yahoo would be releasing a story this summer that will be a 10. That's not what he said, but it was something along those lines.

Ah, it all makes sense now. Thanks for catching me up

Also, it's Nevin Shapiro, not Devin, if anyone cared.

If Coker was a crappy coach and cheated . . . wow.
August 14th, 2011 at 11:52 PM ^
I wish the guy had gone to OSU instead of Miami. Oh well, all these new stories will put pressure on the NCAA to stop dickin around and actually take their jobs seriosuly. They need to make cheating not worth it.
This is also shtty because the current team and coaches could be punished for something they had no part in.
August 15th, 2011 at 12:32 AM ^
If players received improper benefits under Coker it was at least 5 years ago...the NCAA really isn't gonna care about something that long ago.
I think the statute of limitations is 4 years but that can be waived for certain instances, but the coach that this may have happend under is not longer there, who cares? But I guess we'll find out tomorrow.

"Under a plea agreement, Shapiro’s lawyers and prosecutors agreed not to ask the judge for a sentence outside a range of 168 months to 210 months. While Shapiro’s lawyer asked for 168 months, and prosecutors sought 210 months, Wigenton imposed a sentence of 240 months."

Can this judge somehow get on the committee on infractions?
August 15th, 2011 at 6:42 AM ^
I wouldn't mind it if this judge was on the COI.
"Now, before we get to the formality of sentencing the deceased....I mean, the accused..."
August 15th, 2011 at 12:40 AM ^
It's a much bigger story if he had successfully blackmailed Miami.
August 15th, 2011 at 6:45 AM ^
....with the following title: NCAA to Visit UM Monday Re: Possible Violations
Then I didn't.
August 15th, 2011 at 7:50 AM ^
Yeah, even a little more seriously: Could the original poster next time just say "Miami." The "U" is a common abbreviation when speaking of University (of Michigan) matters on campus and this thread title mde my heart skip a beat. Then I read it and whateva, but just an FYI incase you were not aware.

Problems solved
August 15th, 2011 at 8:19 AM ^
The headline ESPN used this weekend that started with "Michigan QB Robinson 'all right'"
August 15th, 2011 at 9:19 AM ^
I love Michigan but the U is and always be Miami. It's on their helmets.
August 15th, 2011 at 8:02 AM ^
Doesn't matter. NCAA's statute of limitations is 4 years. He could provde hard evidence that players were cut paychecks from the president of the university, and the NCAA couldn't do a thing about it.
August 15th, 2011 at 8:50 AM ^
The statute of limitations applies to when the NCAA learns about the violations.

Al Gloden practically begged PSU for a job to be on staff when they can't play Weekend at Bernies with the corpse on the sideline any longer. A small but vocal part of the alumni had begun to grumble and wanted to make it happen.
A larger portion of that fanbase thinks they can get another 10 years out of the corpse and Al Golden wasn't good enough or ready since he coached at Tomato Can U.
Their F'in heads are gonna explode if Golden is the man @ Miami and they are stuck with 3rd to 5th place in the B10 and an annual trip to The Outback Bowl. That will provide me more glee than when we flattened 3 qbs of theirs and have that epic pic to remember it by.
