Isn't True Blood effectively just a television version of Twilight? In which case, should I shoot myself when it first enters by house, or should I at least make a vain attempt to keep it out? kthxbaidood

That's what I thought at first, couldn't be more diffrent(other then the vamps). True Blood is neck and neck with, if not better then, Entourage and Weeds. I highly sugest watching them all from the first episode. I'm not a fan of vampire, warewolf type shit but this show is the absolute tits. Once you watch a episode and see a vamp run you'll notice they were all trained by barwis.

I have yet to watch an episode (which I desperately need to do), but I'm still of the opinion that Lost is the greatest TV show of all time; we'll see what happens in Season 6, though.

But what about Seinfeld? If you want the greatest shows ever as voted by: gals: sex and the city/friends guys: Seinfeld

I don't find this to be true. Seinfeld's universal appeal is greatly exaggerated, and this is coming from a major fan. As the years have gone by, I've found myself less and less enamored with it... I'm down to the point where I'll only stop on a select few episodes. And if we're talking comedies, The Simpsons trumps all else.

I just got done watching the last three shows. And it reminded me why i never watch first run television. I hate waiting until next week for a new episode. Good show. I usually netflix seasons and watch them using Double Vision on my monitor. I recommend it to everyone. I plays videos as a transparency behind what every your working on your monitor. Great for office jobs while stuck behind a computer. Http://www.godoublevision.com

I thought this was a UofM Football site? I know some off the wall shit comes up on here sometimes but Trueblood? The show is unwatchable, it is so bad and the lead actess needs to get that gap in her teeth fixed. But lets go Blue!

You'd be right if this was October, or maybe even next week if we've got some good info from the practices. As it is, we've got a 150 comment thread going about a meeting that may or may not have been called by RR a day early. I could care less what people start posting about at this point. Just think of it as team building/bonding exercises for the MGoBlog community.

True Blood is too weird for me. I watched 5 minutes the other day and it consisted of 1 vampire biting the neck of a human girl (insane amounts of blood everywhere) and killing her. He then immediately eyes the female vampire in the room and they aggressively get it on in a pool of blood on the bed with the dead girl next to them.

It's not "The Wire," so it's not the greatest show ever, but it's still prety frickin' good (at least the first six episodes of season 1, which is all I've watched so far, have been). It's a little soap opera-ish at times, but the writing is clever, the characters are well-developed, and there's a lot of sex and violence. (Really though, the sex and violence is all I need.)

Californication is pretty awesome if you want to go with non-cable. Dexter is pretty good too. I've never seen true blood but it seems to be coming up a lot, so I'll be sure to add it to the list.

My wife got the first season and I watched the first two episodes with her. I'm skeptical, but it's got enough violence and sex to keep me interested for now. The brunette waitress is on fire and Anna Paquin is strangely attractive, even with (or maybe because of?) the gap in her teeth. However, the whole vampire thing seems really tired - Dracula, Lestat, Twilight, now this. I can't figure out why this theme continues to be popular. Enough already. It WAS created by Alan Ball who I have huge respect for - see Six Feet Under.

"It WAS created by Alan Ball who I have huge respect for - see Six Feet Under." Co-sign. Six Feet Under is for me the best show thus far. It is big-screen quality, the best 60-hour movie you will ever see. True Blood is good, but not great. It seems to be geared toward either a younger or dumber audience, or both. Like someone said above, the social commentary is poorly done, and it has some bad dialogue and simple-minded story lines. Nothing like SFU. Dexter - SFU is the same reason I gave Dexter a chance - same lead actor. But I find Dexter to be really bad in terms of his 'self-commentary' - some really cheesy corny stuff. Can't sit through a whole episode anymore because of it.

a co-worker told me about the book, and actually highlighted all the spelling and grammar mistakes that somehow made it through publishing. There is even one instance where the Author accidentally combines the first name of one character with the last name of another, so you don't know which character just spoke. Just thought it was worth noting that you won't be reading the Godfather if you pick up that book.

Once you get past Anna Paquin's insufferable southern Louisiana accent, it's a good show. And it never fails, every time Bill shouts "SOOKKEH!" (spelled phonetically), I start laughing.

I also like how she pronounces his name "BEEL". But really, those two are like the worst part of that show. Bill is always a huge, gigantic wet blanket ("But Sookeh. That would be impropah!") and Sookie's always being all pure and devoted and crap... and then they have sex. Yawn. Personally, I just root for as much Lafayette in every episode as humanly possible because he is campy as fuck and awesome. That and the redheaded vampire chick and the preacher's wife both need to get naked like yesterday.
