OT - Off Topic or On Tiger

A Tiger can't change its stripes. http://sports.yahoo.com/golf/blog/devil_ball_golf/post/Tiger-Woods-prof… You do realize his public attempt of apologizing is a farce? All it's designed to do is to help him get back endorsements. Just play golf Tiger and shut your face. Hopefully Lefty will shut it for you by winning tomorrow. But Phil has a tendency to go limp, something Tiger has no problem with.

He said god damn-it a few times... who cares... he has been toned down compared to past behavior. I'll tell you whats fucking crazy, this guy struggled mightily at times today... yet still shoots a 70 (2 under). If he puts it together tomorrow (like he usually does on Sundays) a 4 stroke deficit isn't much to make up.

I totally agree. Tiger is in no way out of this tournament. Phil will always be the choke artist he used to be, just like as long as Tiger is alive he will be the best golfer in the world. The guy hasn't played a tournament in months, and he's in a tie for third place in the Masters. There is no denying him.

and he's 8 under on Saturday night at the Masters? THE MASTERS?? That's pretty impressive, and like he said, it's not like him to three putt like he did; if there is a sign of rust, that would be it. Tomorrow is going to be pretty exciting, I'm looking forward to watching. p.s. How 'bout that K.J. Choi! I think he's feeding off Tiger.

Personally, i find Tiger to be the most exciting part of golf. Yeah he might lose it every once in a while, but don't we all. I don't care if Tiger curses on camera, i don't care if Tiger slams a club, and i really don't care about Tiger's personal life. Tiger is what makes golf exciting, he is what viewers watch for, Tiger is what people attend events for. Someone of Cowherd this week asked the golf world a good question this week, "What was the rating for the Bay Hill a few weekends ago?"

...but this was really a non-issue on the course. I think a big part of Tiger's game is his emotions, and I don't mind watching him say a bad word or two out there. It certainly isn't anything most golfers wouldn't say once in awhile with their Saturday foursomes, and it helps dispel the image of golfers as robots who are utterly devoid of personality. Tiger has improved his "user-friendliness" greatly. He is acknowledging the fans and actually talking to his opponents instead of ignoring them. He has been downright friendly with Yang the last couple of days. The column, though it does contain a judgement that the writer isn't really qualified to state as fact, is actually pretty understanding about it. The writer accurately pointed out that one can't really expect someone to change overnight, especially when he has been successful on the course his old way. He also wrote that it is "silly that television networks continue to put live microphones on athletes and expect them to speak like choirboys." As for Tiger trying to improve his image: of course he is trying to improve his image. It's his job; he would be stupid to try and do otherwise. Since his sincerity is ultimately something most of us will ever truly know unless he is caught in an "Eddie Haskell" or "Shooter McGavin" moment by someone's cell phone, I choose not to worry about it. I would rather just watch him play golf and enjoy it. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

I dont understand why people make a big deal out of this, if you play golf you know you do this all the time. Also, its showing that Tiger really cares, how many pro athletes today do we sit there and beg to act like they care as much as us fans and to quit playing just for money. Now Tiger shows how much he cares and people get all over him, c'mon man.

Yeah this one kills me as my mother, who is an avid golf fan, always complains about Tiger's mouth. The problem with my mother's point of view is that she has never been a competitor in a competition. I'm sorry but no one has me convinced that if they were in the same situation, playing for millions of dollars, that they would act any differently. All athletes swear, it shows that they are passionate about what they're doing. I know I swear like a sailor at times, and it's not because I know 13 different dirty words, it's because I hate losing and failing to accomplish what I set out to accomplish. Fans want to make a big deal about this, but just watch the game. Quit acting like the guy is immortal, if anything we know now that he is not perfect. He's bound to not be a model of moral excellence.

Tiger may be a total scumbag of a person, but this should be a non-story. Putting microphones on players/coaches was not an inspired idea by the networks. What did they think these guys did, recite poetry while they compete?
