OT - Tigers vs. Sox - Vizquel, really?

El Abuelo, 43 yr. old Omar Vizquel goes yard of Scherzer in the first... Really?

I have no idea what to think of this team, I'm all over the map...

Yea man. Scherzer's consistantly bad except the outing after his stint in the minors. The pitching needs to get it together and the bottom of the order could hit a little better. Luckily they're still in the race however its just about mid-June and if they're going to win the division they need to step it up quickly.

And why is Laird and his sub .150 average still in the lineup? His defense isnt what it was last year. Even though Avila's bat is weak this year I'd take it over Laird's, plus he did call Galarraga's perfect game.

Laird's started 33 games to Avila's 25, I'd think most Tigers fans would like to see that # switch.

Batting below .150, 31% CS rate...I think they can find a better backup than Laird and throw Avila in as starter.

Late to the party here, but unless Avila contracted polio overnight, there is no way that Laird should have been within 2 miles of a baseball bat with 2 out in the 9th, let alone at the plate. And what in the world was he doing attempting to bunt?!?!? I understand the man needs a day off after a night game, but of all times to need a bat at the plate, you would think that 2 outs in the 9th when you're losing would be pretty high on the list.

RE: the catching the in entire Detroit organization: We have Avlia and Laird and we have........................Avila and Laird. There's nothing else in this organization. There's a reason we drafted more than half a dozen catchers in this draft (and no, that's not an exaggeration). Mike Rabelo hurt his knee, Max St. Pierre broke his hand, and according to Lynn Henning, Robinson Diaz is neither hitting or playing any defense above Little League caliber in Toledo. So for the duration, it's Avila or bust.
