Washburn needs a good outing, so far his been a bit of a disappointment. I expect he shoes up and the Tigers win 5-3

with Greinke on the mound?
August 14th, 2009 at 8:09 PM ^
Well our offense looks like crap. Grienke is just striking out everybody. At least Washburn is pitching good tonight.

Holy cow, we are going to have to get movin to get 7, but I believe

Well Clete swung at ball 4 and 5 with Cabrera on deck with 2 on. Why in the world is he in the 3 spot?
August 14th, 2009 at 8:51 PM ^
because the line-up is not good. If they can find away to drop Granderson to 3rd or 5th, it would be an improvement.

ah, so you'd rather have the fast black guy strike out too much in the 3 spot instead of the quickish white guy. I get it.
Neither one is an improvement. Grandy is having a subpar offensive year, thomas is come and go. They don't have a 3 hitter, they don't have a leadoff man, they don't have anyone to fill spots 5-9. They have Cabrera and even he has looked bad this year. Polano isn't horrible in the 2 I suppose...not enough pop but not horrible.
I still hope they pull out the division but they would be the ugliest division champs or god forbid WS champs ever.

You are wrong my friend they have plenty of guys to fill the 9 hole

Looks like a good ol' fashioned pitchers duel. Too bad I don't have cable.
August 14th, 2009 at 9:30 PM ^
Suck it, Colon. Go find another minor leaguer to punch in the face.

BOOM INGE'D
August 14th, 2009 at 9:46 PM ^
Fear the Inge.
August 15th, 2009 at 11:08 AM ^
Wow, what a game. Inge has been a disaster at the plate lately, but wow, that was spectacular.
Welcome to the rotation, Washburn. You've earned your (tiger) stripes! /stupid pun *commence facepalm*
August 15th, 2009 at 11:54 AM ^
I'm not sure this is the appropriate "stripes" earning.
Wouldn't he had to have pitched like 8 solid with like 1 run and lose 1-0? That's how our lineup rolls...

Finally the Washburn the Tigers traded for. Was it a lucky game because he was facing the Royals? Im thinking the first 2 games were more or less new team jitters. Will he pitch like this everygame? Obviously not but I'm willing to bet that for the most part he'll be the same Washburn that pitched for the M's.
The last 2 games the Tigers offense has looked HORRIBLE! Good thing Detroit has some studly starting pitching. Has anyone looked at the remaining schedule? Essentially the last 4 weeks are against all AL Central teams. The regular season will be won or lost there.
