OT - Ticket Stub Project

Submitted by TomW09 on

So, I have always saved my tickets. I have four years worth of basketball and football season tickets, sprinkled in with some baseball tickets, my tickets from the NCAA hoops tournament last year, and other random ticket like things (free trading cards from Volleyball games, for example).

Thanks to my love of higher education, Michigan, and another degree, I'll be here for an additional two years.

So....

I want to do something with these tickets. I probably have a bit over a hundred. Should I do something with them now? If so, what? A collage of some kind? Anyone have/do anything similar?

Or should I bite the bullet and put it off two more years, when I'll have almost 200 tickets?

Also, I have a ton of Tigers, Pistons, Wings, Lions, etc tickets as well. Should I include those or keep this a ]V[ only project?

Why don't you have tickets from Yost? If you have never been to a hockey....GO! I really can't recommend that enough.

I actually haven't, which is a travesty, I know. Basketball is my numero uno priority, so couple that with finding tickets/time in the winter, I've somehow managed to not make to a game at Yost.

I should probably be stoned or something.

You still have two more years, so all isn't lost yet. I don't know if I could have gotten through being a GSI without have a nice way to vent my frustration. A good few hours of creative yelling at mullets did wonders for me.

Do you know any friends that go to hockey games? It's nice going with someone that knows the cheers and has good tickets.

I miss Yost so much when I get a dog in August I'm going to name him/her Yost...so I might be a bit biased.

I save tickets too, except my collection goes back at least to 1990 when I was a freshman at UM and I probably have a few from before that. The pile keeps getting bigger in my drawer because I've never figured out a way to do anything with them. I've always thought I would eventually put them in a photo album so I can just page through them. Haven't had the time.

Speaking of collages, I made one out of hundreds of old Sports Illustrateds when my mother threatened to toss them. One of the coolest things I ever did - especially having the college pictures of eventual pros in football and basketball.

Get an inexpensive coffee table and line the tickets up on top of it....Cover the table with some clear glass...looks pretty cool and could be a nice addition to a sports room/man cave. Get one of those travel coffee mugs where you can put things underneath a clear outercoat and put a few of your favorite tickets stubs in there. I have one and people always say they love it.

I would buy a nice coffee table or end table and put plexiglass over the tickets... it would look really cool, and you could actually use it....

I have played baseball with a kid for like 5 years and he has saved all of his tins and has just recently made a beer pong table with tins and plexiglass...its pretty sweet haha

in a cool looking NFL canister. I want to make a collage with them someday. I recently found them when I cleaned out my entire closet, along with other cool things. I found my first ever Tigers ticket from 14 years ago. Also, grass I plucked off the old Tiger Stadium infield when i ran the bases in 1999. Lots of cool, old sports stuff that I didn't know I still had was in there. Make the collage. It will look cool.

I have been wondering this for a while, but have never asked anyone. I am going to be going to Michigan starting fall of 2010(or at least I hope so). How difficult is it for a freshman to land student tickets to football, basketball, and/or hockey?

And the coffee table idea sounds amazing.

Any student that applies for student tickets on time gets them, even if they have to expand the student section. We don't shaft students like other schools apparently do.

Raptor,

Any student that applies for student tickets in football gets them. Where you are seated depends on priority (either # of credits or class standing, forget which) and whether or not you are sitting in a group with other people.

Basketball is a more complex situation:

In years past you would buy season tickets and then get assigned to your seats, either in the bleachers or if that was full the upper level student section. There was a priority system for this too.

Now it's like this (quoted from MGoBlue):

ORDERING: Only newly admitted or transferred students may now order a basketball season ticket in the amount of $99. This 20-percent discounted rate (full price is $125 in September) is available only when purchasing your 2009 football student season ticket prior to June 19, 2009. If you are interested in just purchasing basketball season tickets, please call the ticket office at 734-764-0247. New students (incoming freshmen, new graduate and transfer students) can also order in September 2009.

GENERAL ADMISSION SEATING: Except for pre-determined premium games (i.e. Michigan State, Ohio State, etc.) students will have one seating option -- GENERAL ADMISSION SEATING. Each student will receive one voucher for each game in the student season package. Upon presenting a valid M-card, this voucher will be exchanged at Crisler Arena's Gate E before each game on a first-come, first-served basis for a ticket in the bleachers (540 seats), then section 19 behind the pep band (93 seats) and then in the upper level gold. Validation may be required for use by a non-student.

PREMIUM GAMES: For the premium games, students who have attended all of the games prior to the premium game will receive an assigned ticket in the bleachers or section 19. Those attending all such games except one will have the next priority, those attending all games except two will have the next priority and so on until the tickets in the bleachers and section 19 have been fully allocated. If a sufficient number of student seats are not available to a priority group, priority will be based on random selection. The remaining students will receive an assigned seat in the upper level gold. The Athletic Department intends to provide other incentives for attending Michigan basketball games.

Thanks guys, that is awesome that I won't be turned away from student tickets. Now I'm off to start writing my admissions essays! My senior year of high school can't go by fast enough...
