OT: Throwback Thursday
As I was sitting in my basement watching the finals, it made me think of Michigan's 2013 National title run, which led to other thoughts of Michigan sports. Throwback Thursday is a day to throw it back to your top 3 Michigan sports memories. I'd love to learn some people's fondest memories as I am pretty young...
1. The 2013 Men's Basketball tournament. We were so damn close...
When Stauskas goes 6 for 6 against Florida from deep, Tebow cries...
No words needed.
2. Men's Hockey 2011 run to the Frozen Four and Regular Season
Michigan started off the Frozen Four run by beating UNO which I totally despise here in Omaha
3. Men's Basketball domination of the Big Ten and run to the Elite 8 in 2013-2014

I watched the highlights on youtube to make sure I got the TDs in the right order.
1989 - Beating Seton Hall for the national title
1992 - Beating OSU to go to the Final Four
1998 - Winning the Rose Bowl and national title
In terms of best played game I ever saw in person, that would be the 1989 Sweet Sixteen against UNC. From the opening tip to Glen Rice nailing the three falling out of bounds in the final minute, that was a classic.
I can't believe that the big chill was 4.5 years ago. I remember going to that like it was yesterday. I'm going to go with 2006 football season, the 2004 MSU comeback and 2005 PSU one second game for the way back although the 2013 ncaa tourney run was fun. I never really got into the Rose bowl games since you were essentially playing to be the 4th or 5th best team in the country. It felt like a bronze medal game albeit in a beautiful setting.
1. 1997 Football Season Charles Woodson!!!
2. 1989 NCAA tourney Champs Run Glen Rice/Rumeal Robinson
3. 2013 NCAA tourney run!! Trey Burke Kansas 2-minute miracle.
That was a banner year, for sure. South U was really busy that school year, from storming Bollinger's house after PSU to osu to Duke/Heisman (same day!) to hockey natty (no South U after Rose Bowl b/c who was really around campus then?).
So the '11 hockey squad lost the national championship on my birthday. The '13 hoop squad lost the national championship on the night before my birthday (turned 21 at midnight.) Michigan teams need to stop playing for championships in the direct vicinity of my birthday.
If Harbaugh sacrifices you will he never lose a championship game?
Yeah, we haven't had the best of luck in championship games.
The same could be said with B1G Tournament Championship games.
Michigan had no B1G Tournament Championships as an athletic department from 2011-12 to 2013-14.
They've had 3 in the last two months. Once you get one, the floodgates open.
and this and this
>Same here.
I'm old enough were all 3 of my top 3 Michigan memories are National Championships . . . and I've still got other National Championships, Final Fours, Rose Bowl and BCS wins, Heismans, and a slew of B1G championships left over.
I feel sorry for people who started following Michigan more recently. They truly are loyal fans for what they've been through. Hopefully they will be rewarded soon with another run like we had in the 80's and 90's.
