OT - Thank You MI Ticket Office...NOT

Submitted by jlcoleman71 on August 28th, 2009 at 5:14 PM

I would personally like to thank the UofM ticket office for LOSING MY SEASON TICKETS, they just never showed up.......I've got enough stress in my life....now I have to keep my fingers crossed that they get reprinted and are available next for pickup.

It doesn't help that I live in Chicago....not happy.

M ticket office was actually extremely helpful for me. I explained the situation and all I had to do was get them a copy of the police report (which the required) and they were going to simply reprint the tickets.

However, my tickets were 'found' in Detroit by the United States Postal Service, delivered back to the M office and they simply resent them to me. I have them now.

I can't think of any concievable situation where my tickets could have fallen out of the taped envelope and how they got returned to me is beyond any feasible explanation I could think of...nonetheless I have them and I hope you have as much luck with your that I had!

The PO uses some pretty funky machines to sort/process mail. It is at least plausible that the envelope was mangled (was it?) and the tickets fell out. Then, if a PO employee discovered them, they would automatically send them back to the U/M.

It is also possible that someone at the PO stole the tickets and then found out they couldn't use or sell them. But, then I would have expected them just to throw them away instead of turning them in.

BTW, I had a photocopy of a check sent to me from the PO several months after I had mailed it with a note that "it could not be delivered". They used the address on my check to send the photocopy to.

that they were returned because they realized they couldn't sell them because, well they could still sell them. Whoever buys them (secondhand or thirdhand by the time enduser likely gets them and won't find out until gameday at the gate.

but I believe they were taken by a PO worker who just so happens to be an MGoReader. He was so moved by the sad feeling that was left in the pit of the stomach of another MgoReader, that he just had to turn them in.

The problem is, there is no standard way of tracking these......the ticket office says they were mailed, but they can't give me an exact date or any type of tracking number...the response is:

"...yeah, they were mailed out over a 3 week period in late July/early August, but we can't give you any additional information than that because we don't have any..."

They don't ever have a problem tracking me down when it's time to pay up (my next year "seat tax" bill shows up before the OSU game!), but they put no effort into making sure tickets get mailed out properly......I guess I don't get it.

If they want to charge me a couple extra bucks for priority mail so it can be tracked, they should make that an option when payments are being made earlier in the year....I will gladly pay it for the peace of mind.

I guess getting these is a "big deal" to me and I'd like to think they put some level of effort into getting these processed and sent out correctly......when I hear stories about guys in Canada getting an empty envelope and mine just never show up, it makes me nervous.

I can get "electronic delivery" for tickets to concerts and other sporting events, why not Michigan tickets? Submit payment online.....receive electronic .pdf file with all tickets....print....done......easy and accurate.....nothing gets lost.

I can say from experience the postal service in Chicago is putrid. I filled out a temporary mail forwarding slip and didn't get my mail back in Chicago, ever, until 5 phone calls saying it was only a temporary forwarding. They said nobody tells them when to restart, but only when to stop delivering mail. Bunch of geniuses I guess.
