OT - Sparty paying off people to not sue them over Nasser issue

Submitted by bweldon on July 30th, 2019 at 10:41 PM

Well now we are starting to see Sparty open their wallets to pay off those that either ignored the things Nasser was doing or was simply not willing to turn a blind eye to corruption for what ever reason...

I am so looking forward to seeing who is next and also note because of the settlement she cannot sue the university

Under terms of the retirement, Simon will receive $2.45 million in three installments and other benefits. The agreement stipulates she won't sue the school.

"Michigan State is on the precipice of a new chapter under the leadership of President [Samuel] Stanley," Simon said in a statement. "I appreciate the efforts of the university to facilitate my transition to emeritus status that corresponds to this new chapter."

"Our campus community is continuing its healing, and the Board of Trustees feel the retirement of Dr. Simon is best for the university," said Dianne Byrum, chairperson of the Board of Trustees.

Got to love that leadership

I hope they sue the hell out of her. Thoroughly disgusting that she's getting almost $2.5 million for enabling the abuser while that bloated clown Engler got paid for verbally abusing those victims who were brave enough to come forward to expose Nassar.

I didn't see your previous thread, but if you're still too much of a coward to hit on her, here is what you should - get a little drunk and then hit on her.

If she's into you, she will let you know. If she's not, you can always say "sorry about that, I just drank a little too much."

Hopefully her boyfriend doesn't kick the shit out of you, but the "I was drunk" defense might help there too.

I’m tired of Spartans talking about “healing.” That isn’t the phase they are in.  They are in the *fix the problem* phase.

Healing doesn’t start until you fix the problem. You haven’t fixed the problem if You continue to dodge the attorney general, Engler has time for basketball games but not investigations, and the President who oversaw the atrocity is still negotiating her golden parachute.

She will probably end up spending all of the money on legal bills and MSU would have spent the same on lawyers when she sued the MSU for breach of contract. But, it still looks really bad.

How in the hell she is getting money for her incompetence. This world is weird. Spartans have no will. she has the audacity to issue a statement. How do these people sleep at night.

This is such an embarrassment for the university.  The way "leadership" has handled this is an absolutely disgrace and a black mark on the entire state.  Sickening

...equaled only by their despicable fans. I have lost track of  how long it has been since this story fully broke but the "outrage" of the Sparty fans by this "overblown" ordeal and how soon it would be "long-forgotten" will not be forgotten. And that many persist in the defense of the indefensible remains most remarkable.

“I appreciate the efforts of the university to facilitate my transition to emeritus status that corresponds to this new chapter."

I’ll bet she appreciates the money a lot more.  Spartans Will...have no shame.

Unfortunately, this is all too common. Once you get to certain level in management, even getting fired is extremely lucrative. Cosequenses simply don't exist anymore for the powerful and well connected.

And people wonder why college has gotten so expensive.  $2.5M more or less “retirement” benefits.  That buys a lot of cigarettes and candy in prison.

" Rising college cost is driven substantially by three economy-wide forces: (1) Lagging productivity growth is endemic to personal service industries, so service prices rise faster than goods prices. This is called “cost disease;” (2) The higher education workforce is highly educated and the cost of hiring highly educated workers has risen sharply since 1981; and (3) A college’s mission and market require it to meet a rising standard of educational care. More than any potential dysfunction on campus, these three factors have led to rising real costs. "

I'll tell you from personal experience that a huge amount of increase in cost is due to the creation of many many many high level administrative positions that seem to do essentially nothing of value. It seems like every month I get an email to "welcome direct of... brand new center that doesn't do shit... in their new role".

There are so many of them at my school that I don't even know half of their names.

It's not so she doesn't sue, its so she doesn't spill the beans as to how everyone knew but she and they were told to ignore it by higher ups.

Engler whined about how much the victims were getting and then they pony up a couple of million to make Simon go away? They have no shame. smh

Sick.  She doesn't deserve a dime.  If she were a decent human being, she'd donate this money to a victims' fund.

(Of course, if she were a decent human being, she'd have done something about Nassar long ago.)
