Apparently there are some rumors about a new Sparty logo, I've heard this from some Spartan Alumni too...

I feel like the more creative folks on this board could come up with some suggestions for the new logo.

Edit: Mlive link with proposed new logo.

I think the protruding forehead is supposed to
be more intimidating, or maybe it's easier to
slip the ski mask over.

even as I was typing, someone thought the same
thing.

I had a conversation with a MSU grad/fan about this yesterday and his main complaint was that it was a break from tradition. He said "It would be like changing the block M and adding curves or something." To which I laughed and said that they are in no way comparable. I asked him how long the current logo had been around around and he said since the 70s (not sure if that's true or not). Most people are flipping out calling it ugly because it's breaking from their "long" tradition. When it's actually not a bad redesign It look pretty close to the helmets from the "300" though. It's only a matter of time before Gerard Butler is running around the sidelines.

Go the The Helmet Project (Google "The Helmet Project"; the url itself is funky, without good internal links) and click on The Big Ten and scroll down to MSU. "Tradition" changes every 6 or 7 years. Which is half as often as they change coaches.

Warning, The Helmet Project is known to be addictive; adult supervision is advised.
