OT: So.. We deleting the pot threads?

Submitted by 1464 on November 6th, 2018 at 11:57 PM

Not sure if this is gonna stay up, but it's a pretty major development.  Congrats to the Michigan folk on this board.  Looks like you're gonna be able to smoke weed recreationally soon...

If this is treading too close to politics, feel free to delete.  But it's not often you get to see the repeal of a decades long prohibition.  Guess you won't have to head over to Windsor to try marijuana for your first time...

Obtain the money? You make it sound like having money to purchase goods and services is something specific to buying weed. Also, really easy to find dealers. And yes, easier to call someone yourself than have to find a friend to do it for you. When I used to smoke it was almost never hard to get. There was literally like once or twice where it took a few extra calls, and I wasn't even in an urban area. If you had a car, it would be rare to not be able to get some within the hour. Delivery is often available. It's easy to transport and stores for a long time. I don't know if this is going to actually make it harder for kids to do it, but it sure isn't going to make it easier.

Well, I don't know about you but when I was 12-16 years old I wasn't making any money because I played sports year round, now I don't know what the price of weed is but I find it hard to believe that it is super cheap. This is in reference to the concerns about children not young adults and older.

Something tells me you come from a strict family based around religion, you know... by that cross in your avatar.

Don't worry, bucko. This isn't the end of the world and nothing is going to change much if kids are seeking it out. Finding someone growing up was incredibly easy - everyone knows a guy that's got some, it's not expensive.

You just come across incredibly inexperience with the entire subject.

Actually my parents were not strict at all, but very religious, loving and caring.  I am more strict about myself than my parents ever were.  And I am not worried much, more disappointed, hard to be worried when I know that no matter what happens on earth it isn't my final destination.

I simply don’t understand why it was ever illegal. Alcohol is legal, yet weed isn’t/wasn’t.

Congrats state of Michigan. Look into making yourself a strong ganja oil. Do an oil infusion of the plant into coconut oil. You can then use it for massages or sore muscles.

Obviously this is a sarcastic question, but it raises a very good point. I am sure that smoking will still be against "team rules" or even NCAA rules. But hopefully we're very close to the point where suspensions will be minimal for the offense. McGary was suspended for a year. A whole year! Absurd.

Let the potheads get stoned while I continue snapping necks and cashing checks. I just hope I don't have to fund them all on Welfare and Medicaid.

I think they are referring to the law of unintended consequences. Not too hard to imagine kids getting a hold of baked goods, knowingly or unknowingly, and ingesting too much. There will be bad with the good and time will sort it all out. IMHO, I think the latter will outweigh the former.

I am disappointed.  I had a friend who was killed by a driver who was high on weed.  I am guessing we will see a lot more marijuana driving related deaths.  Bums me out today.

Not a big fan of pot, plus I can’t touch it since I’m a federal employee but I did have a couple friends back in high school who, at the time, I thought turned into burn out losers because they started smoking pot. But now I realize they were probably destined to be losers either way. Times are changing...

People who are destined to be losers also just happen to be people that are susceptible to drug abuse issues. Plenty of non-losers do just as many if not more drugs. Hell, most of the harder drugs don't compare to the negative affects that alcohol has and alcohol is celebrated around the world by people from all walks of life.

Nah man, I get it. I’m a recent college graduate. Some of my best friends are habitual users, because you “can’t” get addicted to it. There’s a certain personality type that attracts to it. It’s just annoying that I’m part of the softest generation in history. I have to live the rest of my life with these clowns

I live in Colorado. I have not seen any negative impact since it has been legal. Once in the last 3 years I could smell it from some neighbors down the street. I figure that is not much different than a neighbor being loud because they are drunk. Tax income from this and less government is good IMO.
