OT: Rhett Rodriguez (Rich Rod's son) mid-season update
I previously posted about Rich Rod's son Rhett having grown into a successful quarterback at his high school in Tucson, Arizona, and becomming a potential 2017 D-1AA/D-1 quarterback prospect (and a possible walk-on candidate for his dad at Arizona).
So far this year he's having another successful season. His team is 5-1 and Rhett continues to put up impressive numbers:
- 1,193 Passing Yards
- 67% Completions
- 8 Passing TDs
- 1 INT
- 392 Rushing yards
- 9 Rushing TDs
I couldn't find any highlights from this season, but here are his 2013 and 2014 highlights on Hudl if anyone is interested.
It's notable that his team was 0-10 the year before he arrived, then they went 8-3 with him starting as a freshman and 7-4 during his sophomore year, making the playoffs both years.
Great job, Rhett!

Odds he comes to Michigan?
That would be an awkward in home visit.

I doubt the Rodriguez family has any interest in ever going to Ann Arbor again

Rich, it's Lloyd. Listen, we hear your son is a heck of a quarterback. I don't have to tell you how special and tremendous a place Michigan is.
(Silence)
I mean, that line worked on you before...

Ouch. That last picture...

THEY ARE USING THE SPLIT M FOR THE BACKGROUND!

What a treasonous move by those folks at MGoBlue.com.

Negative A MILLION. Seriously. After the way RichRod's tenure went here you seriously think he'd let his kid come to Ann Arbor. Obviously he'll play for his old man but even if Rich Rod was out of coaching, no way he lets his son come here.

Back after RR was fired, one of the frequent callers into WTKA's afternoon show said live, on-air, that he wanted to torture Rodriguez. And the douchebag host at the time laughed.
I have no doubt that this numbskull would have done it if he'd had the opportunity.

Rhett himself was harassed at school and I remember a picture of him in the car with his Dad while people were hounding them and it looked like a pretty stressful situation, especially for a kid. I have a whole new understanding of a certain segment of our own fanbase after that period and what went on....not flattering.
I highly doubt he would give us so much as a glance if we showed any interest. More interesting if we were to go up against him on another team at some point.
Glad he is doing well though and wish him the best.

Zero, and that's not really the point of the post. It's just an update about the son of a former Michigan head coach who has become a successful high school quarterback and possible college prospect.

After so many years on MGoBlog.... here I still thought people would get the innate sarcasm in my post...

for ALL YOU OLD PEOPLE!

Having your seemingly innocent post being negged so much can make even the jolliest of people lose their sarcasm meter.

I think if we could give Rhett a chance to bring in his own guys, recruit his type of players, and give him more than 3 years as a starter, he WILL be successful at Michigan. Fergodsakes. Just look at what he's doing in Arizona!

'Tucson'.
EDIT: OP fixed it.
October 7th, 2015 at 4:16 PM ^
It's too bad he's not a defensive player. That's what Rich really needs right now.
October 7th, 2015 at 4:55 PM ^
Can anyone picture Rich raising a defensive player? I feel like it goes against everything he is. "Rhett. Football is about scoring. Don't worry about the defense"
October 7th, 2015 at 6:12 PM ^
RR played defense. (DB at WVU)
Go figure.
October 8th, 2015 at 8:41 AM ^
Well, you get to see a lot of offenses when you play defense.

Something tells me that this post will not generate the same type of response as the post last week about RichRod's daughter.

This isn't a Michigan recruiting post. Also, you're kind of a dick. If Lloyd Carr (or Hoke for that matter) had a son who was slinging the rock well in high school and emering into a potential college prospect, it would be of interest to many people on this board. The fact that you don't like this kid's dad is inconsequential. He's a former Michigan head coach, whether you like it or not.
