OT: PSU and UW in mix for O'brien
Not real exciting stuff on this slow day. Didn't realize he had interest in PSU until I saw this. They may be a decent fit for him with Coach O'brien having his experience with Tom Terrific. He has two years eligible and may help PSU in their battle with ohio.
Visited PSU last weekend, going to Wisky soon.

He's stopping by Ole Miss today I believe along with one of the *other* Maryland transfer's who was a starting OT I believe.
I thought this was going to be about Danny O'Brien; It turns out it both was and wasn't, and that another O'Brien was thrown in for good measure.
Same here. I was thinking he hunted all the game in Tennessee so he is moving on to other states.
If Ann Arbor is too liberal, so is Madison.
Not exactly a ringing endorsement for McGloin and Bolden.
Russell Wilson to the Tigers to play 3rd for Cabrera.

Every year we see more and more QB's and others shop themselves around the country as graduate transfers. Why is this practice any more palatable than a senior in good academic standing with a few credit hours left to graduate? My feeling is that now certain QBs will be able to use the implied threat of their impending graduate transfer to improve their playing time. Not sure the coaches or the Presidents will like this practice to explode.
If "certain QBs" are seniors and haven't already seized the starting job with both hands, I'm guessing coaches won't mind letting them go. Holding out the threat of a transfer for more playing time isn't going to be a widespread thing, I'm betting. Keep in mind that in Danny O'Brien's case, the coaching situation at Maryland is 95% of the deal here.
a player can only transfer to a grad school that offers an academic major that the current school does not. i'm still curious what wilson studied at wisky. animal husbandry?
If Wilson is enrolled now or left school for NFL preparation. So, he did just one semester? I would be surprised if he gets a masters. This is a scam that he NCAA needs to eliminate!
A few athletes actually do what they are supposed to do and the NCAA should put a stop to it? Should schools be forced to hold onto fifth year seniors who don't contribute too?

I have an easy solution. Let them transfer but make them wait one year. That way, they get two years of grad school if they really want it, and it doesn't feel exactly like an NFL free agent signing.
Is it possible to transfer as a senior only needing a few credits and transfer them all to a new school? It doesn't sound right that someone could be a graduate of, for example PSU, after only taking 3 classes there.
This is how it works for everyone. I think, but am not sure, that the maximum number is 60, but I'm not sure. It's been a while. I looked at transferring when I was an undergrad, but it would have cost me a year of credits.
Would Wisky really do the soldier-of-fortune QB thing for a second straight year? Although it's hard to argue with the program's record of late, I'm not sure this pattern benefits Wisky in the long-run. It's mercenary, and it insults the QBs Wisky recruited the old-fashioned way.
While I agree with what you said here, the counter arguement is why not, given that it worked great the first time.
Edit- which upon re-reading your statement maybe what you meant by success as of late.
What about Dylan Murphy?
Is this guy even any good? Stats from last season are not impressive...
badgerland, I can tell you the natives are full on with the idea of getting a senior transfer again. They have no faith in the returnees, partly due to a recurring nerve injury to last years projected QB, Budmayr. They have a true Freshman coming in from Cali, Bart Houston who was highly touted. He is scheduled to have a shoulder scope and will miss at least part of the fall practice time. There had been talk or hope that he might step right in. Wisconsin is hot for O'Brien and also has shown interest in a guy from Kansas whose name escapes. I agree it doesn't send a great message to recruits to shop for mercenaries. But Bielema is a butthead and I'm not surprised.

Still in school and scheduled to graduate with a masters degree or was it a one semester scam?
