OT: Poor Damn 'Niners™

Submitted by boliver46 on

And the hits keep on coming in San Fran...you shouldn't have poked the Har-Bear, Mr. York.

After the firing of head coach Jim Harbaugh, the 49ers have undergone a series of dramatic changes, including a slew of free-agent departures and the retirement of linebackers Patrick Willis and Chris Borland. Now they can add injury to insult with the news that reserve linebacker Chase Thomas has torn his ACL while working out at Stanford
The San Francisco 49ers are cursed. That's got to be it at this point.

Oh the irony is delicious...and so are your tears Mr. York:

The tone seems off here because it's an injury, but I'm pretty impressed that the superscript "TM" somehow makes it into the URL as a superscript "TM" (at least in Chrome).

I was surprised as well.

The point was not to devalue or laugh at the injury specifically to Mr. Thomas.  The intent was (as with many other posts) to point and laugh at the mess that is the 49'ers.

I'll take my lumps though, since apparently I am tone-deaf. :)

Am I misreading this post or is the entire purpose of the thread to laugh at one person ("Mr. York") because another person (Chase Thomas) suffered a torn ACL?

Since I am getting negged, apparently there is misunderstanding here..

There have been COPIOUS threads about the state of the 49'ers since "separating" from Harbaugh.  The Schadenfreude has been flowing like a waterfall, and didn't think this was any different.

In no way am I minimizing the injury to Mr. Thomas.  This was solely to highlight the tire fire that the 'Niners have become since parting ways with Harbaugh.

Think about Ohio State.  Do we want them to lose every game they ever play?  Of course.  Do we want one of their linebackers to tear his ACL?  I certainly hope not.  And if one of their linebackers does happen to tear his ACL, I would hope the information isn't presented in a mocking tone.

If you hate the 49ers, fine.  Why bother, but fine.  Celebrate their free agent departures, celebrate their losses when the season starts.  But I don't think an injury to Chase Thomas (who played for Jim Harbaugh at both Stanford and San Francisco) is a cause for laughter.

I did one a week or so ago that got people in a jeering mood. I think we just need to give it some space.

I have nothing against Niner players...even when Jim was in the league their battles with Seattle were the best rivalry in the NFL. Don't know if I even have anything against Baalke either, or Tomsula...Tomsula just seems like someone way too underqualified for his job.

Only one I really dislike is York, and I also like him because we have Harbaugh now. So I'm content now that their disastrous free agency/offseason is winding down to hold off, until they go 6-10. Which I think they will.

How much success and Super Bowl wins have they enjoyed over the years? Now think of all the poor bastards that have rooted for, lived, and mostly died, with the Lions. If you are going to be sympathetic, be sympathetic for Lion's fans who have lived their whole lives without even sniffing a Super Bowl, as opposed to being so for a bunch of spoiled people who have had more than their fair share of success.

As a niners fan, I appreciate all the coverage the forum here is giving me...

As a Michigan fan, how about trying to enjoy what we have for once and quit talking about how stupid the 49ers are.  WE KNOW.

It seems like every other day we are sitting here making fun of the Niners.  I think we all get the point, but the last two have just been making fun of them because they have injuries and that's just not cool.

I totally do NOT understand these threads at all.  Six years ago my alcoholic ex-wife left me for another dude while I was recovering from cancer surgery.  A year later I met my avatar (isn't she lovely?) and have experienced marital bliss for the first time in my life and have literally never been happier.

Am I sending shitty emails to the guy who married my ex?  NO - I wake up every day thankful for his decision as it created a scenerio for me to be very, very happy.   Jed York is like that guy who married my ex - his dumbass move made it possible for Jimmotherfucking Harbaugh to be our HC.

We should be sending him thank you cards - not repeated posts making fun of his misfortune.

a teeny tiny little piece deep inside of you that gets a little happier when you see your ex's bad decisions come back to bite her in the ass? If my wife left me for some douchebag in the middle of a cancer fight, I wouldn't wish true suffering or illness on her, but I'd certainly point and laugh if she ran her convertible into the back of an overloaded manure truck.

This thread is so bizarre...

My alcoholic ex-wife left me when she got out of rehab and I was in the middle of a freak cancer fight (only at 40 and I'm fit otherwise).  Her sponsor told her that unless she changes everything about her life, she'll never get truly sober.  So she left me.  I don't have a drinking problem and did nothing but support her during her rehab.

She took the convertible!

I got the dogs though so that's what counts!

I say that in about every one of these threads.  (Now if he would only become OSU AD.)

Just as you wake up every day thankful for the guy who opened up the opportunity for you to marry your shapely wife (to each their own--equilaterals aren't my type), some MGoBlogger wakes up every day wondering how to express his euphoria over Jim Harbaugh and his liberator Jed York.

You're acting like Jed personally gave Harbaugh to us, Jim felt like his heart was here, there is no need to constantly mock them for every bad thing that happens to them, especially injuries, really..?
