OT: Please pray for a Michigan Man

Submitted by Dennis on
My uncle dropped out of Michigan medical school to open his own CFP firm. He was, like me, a poor kid from Ohio. He was also the inspiration for me to graduate from Michigan as a first gen student... He called it "The best education and the best football tradition 500 miles from home. He was just diagnosed with Stage 3 pancreatic cancer. He's got a 41% chance to survive 5 years. I'm not a religious person, but he could use your kind thoughts and prayers. Like him, Mgoblog is a source of encouragement for me (minus some of the hawt takes).

Cancer took my mom 18 years ago. Unfortunately this insidious disease plays no favorites.MAy God comfort you and your loved ones during this time.

I'm going to see my dad Thursday, Hospice was at his home today and said things are not looking good.  It seems he is looking for permission to go.  That's what he is telling his caregivers.   So I am right there with ya brother!

Don’t give up. Several weeks ago we were told my brother-in-law was dying, he probably won’t make it through the night and we should go see him at the hospital before he was gone. I won’t go into the details but two days ago the doctor said there’s a chance he could make a full recovery. Pancreatic cancer is tough, but stay as positive as you can, believe in miracles, appreciate every day, and don’t give up. My prayers are with you and your family.

I’m not religious, but miracles do happen! Michigan athletics has some incredible examples going both for and against us. I recommend the book titled “Anti-Cancer”, it will give you and your uncle the strength and inspiration you need. There is a lot of practical advice that could extend his life.

Will pray for him and your family. I do believe there is some karmic effect in prayer. Not sure I can explain it, but perhaps just the knowledge that people are taking the time to have a meditative experience on behalf of another person, especially a person they really don't even know, strikes me as a powerful thing.

My father-in-law had pancreatic cancer. It's tough diagnosis with long odds. Keep us informed on his progress.
