OT- Pacman Jones to Lions?

Submitted by learmanj on
According to the DN, Pacman Jones worked out this morning and the Lions' scouts were in attendance. Sounds like the Lions and 49ers are the two top teams for his services. I don't think I would normally be for this but since our secondary (minus Delmas) is putrid, I figure what is there to lose. Especially since NFL contracts are not guaranteed. http://detnews.com/article/20100319/OPINION03/3190416/1004/SPORTS/Lions…

I would say he's worth a shot since our secondary is extremely thin but he was terrible in Dallas. Maybe he has finally got his shit together. But if Schwartz and Mayhew sign him, then I guess they seem some potential in him.

someone would be talking about the Lions for something other than 0-16. Kind of like the Rams. If they didn't have the first pick in the draft would anyone know they're still in the league?... Just replace Indians and Cleveland with Rams and St. Louis and you've got classic 'Major League'. "I play for the Indians (Rams)." "Here in Cleveland (St. Louis}? I didn't know they still had a team." "Yup, we've got uniforms and everything, it's really great!"

I like this much better than the Cromartie rumor. At least Jones will be cheap and not cost a draft pick. Plus, his name has never been paired with "alarming lack of tackling effort" like Cromartie.

Jones has to have learned his lesson by now. Hasn't he? I think he is worth the chance. If he messes up, he will get dumped. If he doesn't, he might play well. Either way, the downside is not as bad as the upside is good.

is no. Jones does not necessarily have to have learned his lesson by now. He may realize that being broke sucks, and he really, really can't blow it this time, but obviously there are no guarantees with this dude.

He might have been one of the top 5 players in the league when he played for Schwartz in Tennessee, so I can understand why the Lions are interested. As was previously mentioned though he wasn't the same player post-suspension.

With the changes to the rules in the strip clubs, Detroit should be safe! No one will want to make it rain, when no lap dances are allowed!

Our beloved city council thought that lap dances and VIP rooms were worth making illegal. Their argument is, with those things in play at strip clubs, they bring more questionable characters to the clubs, thus creating more crime in the surrounding areas. Lame as it is, that is the new ordinance in the wonderful city of Detroit!!

so it may be worth the risk. If he does not work out then you cut him and lose a few hundred thousand but if he works then you have a starting CB and punt returner at great value.

I'm all for it. It is hard for a pisspoor franchise to get talented players. The PACMAN adds talent to the team, despite his character issues, and he Jim Schrwatz knows what he is getting.
