Just thought it might be of interest.

Interesting. Sucks for the kid, hope he's back in time for the bowl game as they say he might be. It might also give Tressel extra incentive to go for it when in field goal range though... not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing. (With our defense, probably bad.)

Although I'll go so far as to say that Tressell probably won't even be placed in that position, and the only time we'll see the backup PK is on PATs.

"Pettrey sustained the injury while running downfield on kickoff coverage in Saturday's game against New Mexico State."
That settles it. Kickers shouldn't run, or even TRY to run.

"That settles it. Kickers shouldn't run, or even TRY to run."
Garrett Rivas fully supports that statement.

I hate to see that happen to any player. Even an OSU player. It's one thing if he just misses our game, it sucks when he has to miss more.

I'll add to the above sentiments that I never want to see a player get seriously injured (even if they do play for Ohio St).
Howeva, I feel a little better about facing OSU's kicking game because IIRC Pettrey's replacement, Barclay, is a former walk on. Last week against New Mexico State he went 1/3 on field goals (made 29 yard, missed from 30+ and 40+ yards) and was 3/3 on PAT.

my OSU-fan friend said that an NMSU player ran at him and blasted him in the knee when he was just sort of jogging down field.

I didn't know Wiscy QB Jim Sorgi had a relative on the NMSU squad.

Things like that make me love Wikipedia.

on November 21. Maybe he misses a big kick b/c of the deafening crowd noise and we win by 3? Huh? Anybody?

I'm not shedding any tears. For a few years now it seems like we've always come into the game more banged up than they are.
