OT: Odd football meeting or not ?

Submitted by ralphgoblue on

On Oct 6 2018  The Kentucky Wldcats football team will be playing a game @ Texas AM Aggies

This will be the first times these two teams have met since 1953

They are in the same confernce...

Because of SEC weird rotaiting schedules this will be the first game vs the Wildcats and Aggies in 66 years .I realize AM only joined the SEC 8-9 years ago,but this just seems odd.

source--the Paul Finebaum show (wanted to watch his take on the Final 4 teams)

The issue isn't so much that the SEC schedule rotates, as that it doesn't rotate much at all.  You play only eight conference games.  Six are against your division rivals and you have one protected cross-division rivalry.  That leaves just one game against one of the other six teams in the opposite division.  You're barely even in the same conference with them.

Indiana STILL hasn't played a game there.  They finally do this October.

Every other B1G school has played there in that time - including Maryland and Rutgers.  Exclude the 2 new schools, and every B1G school has played there at least twice.

I went to grad school at A&M and live in Cincinnati.  In the five years that I've lived here, A&M played once at Vanderbilt but has yet to play at Kentucky or Tennessee.  SEC scheduling definitely sucks.

I sort of enjoy useless facts like this.

The NY Giants and New England Patriots have played their last 5 games in 5 different stadiums (from 2007 to 2017: old Giants Stadium, Phoenix, Foxboro, Indianapolis, new Giants Stadium).

The Lions will go 20 years between games at Kansas City (last in 2003, next scheduled for 2023).

In Calendar Year 1994, the Lions played the Packers 5 separate times.  (Lions went 2-3 in these 5 games)

In Calendar Years 2002 & 2003, the Jets played AT Oakland 5 separate times.
