It its the only way I can see them being forced to get rid of the watered down crap. The league needs to be about half the size. Florida teams out (yes I know your grandad loves seeing the wings there), Arizona out, Dallas, flip, and on. I miss real hockey. They could get rid of the cap after that too. Why should the Wings, Leafs, etc, subsidize these shitty franchises?

Name quetions aside (yes it is still on Long Island and in New York) this is a great move.  The old place was a Dump with an intentionally capitalized D and no one watched.  And the rich white hipster hockey demographic population of Brooklyn is explodign

Fewer seats isn't necessarily a bad thing.  It can mean more sellouts and create a sense of scarcity of tickets that compels people to buy.  Having a stadium too large for the fanbase discourages people from buying season tickets and depresses the atmosphere (having fans dispersed among empty seats doesn't encourage people to make noise).

Since the pro teams in ny/nj are so clustered, does this completely change allegiances for fans? If not now, over time? Will ppl in nj eventually be knicks fans or stay nets fans? So many teams...so little space
