They lost two of their best receivers last year in Ebert and Dunsmore (Tight End, but he caught a LOT of passes), and this was looking like a weak spot. Now, they're bringing in a guy who should draw double coverage on every play. HUGE upgrade.

Good for the NCAA not holding him hostage, too.

Even with those losses, Athlon rated their WR corps the second best in the conference, and that was without Prater. They're totally going to light some teams up.

If NU was in the other division, they might be the darkhorse to win it.

Why did he transfer though? I know he is from the Chicago area but was it for personal reasons? I'm just curious because if he was just home sick then usually they still make you wait out a year. I just never knew why he transferred.

He was hurt his first year, and then he wasn't getting any PT.  Now, SC has really good receivers, but if he was as good as everyone thought, he still should have gotten playing time as a third receiver, but he didn't very much.

He'll be good for NW, but it sounds like he's just not as good as the recruiting services thought.

It's good for the conference to have talent even at the bottom levels. Having Prater at Northwestern should reflect well on the conference even if they still aren't that good

Yeah, telling you, NW will be seen at the same level as a Wizzy in about 5-10 years. Basically a team nowhere near the bottom of the conference each year. Assuming PF doesn't bolt elsewhere (absolutely dont see it ever happening but ND would have a slim shot, IMO).

Guy is young, can coach his butt off and it will come together. NW is noo doormat.

This should be a huge upgrade for them. I can't root for NU when they play Michigan, obviously. But I'm a big Pat Fitzgerald fan. I'd love to see him win a Big Ten title one day.
