OT: Notre Dame player stomps Navy player, Kelly fails to discipline
Didn't see this on the board, so I thought that I'd post it. Brian Kelly is apparently not going to discipline senior DE Kerry Neal for stomping on Navy slotback John Howell:
If Kelly really isn't going to mete out discipline, it is really outrageous. This is not subtle stuff.

I remember seeing this during the game and freaking out because it was, you know, pretty obvious what happened there. The announcers, if memory serves me right, kind of danced around the play a bit even during replays.

Memory didn't serve you. If you watch the clip, Spielman definitely says it was bad sportsmanship and the guy should get punished for it.

live and thinking how I wanted to drop kick that guy. Having knee problems myself, that was ugly to watch.

I can understand how the officials didn't call it on the field, because when I first saw the video I thought the ND player had inadvertently stepped on the Navy player while trying to push the pile. However, on closer review the ND player was undoubtedly stomping and intending to injure the Navy player. Kelly should suspend him. Perhaps the reason he isn't is because their upcoming game against Tulsa is 'the biggest game [he's] coached in."

I should have read to the bottom of the thread before I posted. Nice Tulsa reference!

In all seriousness, Kelly has probably the biggest game of his season, no, the biggest game of his career coming up with Tulsa rolling into town. A lot of coaches would not suspend a player in this situation before an epic clash.

If you look close enough, right before he stands up to stomp on him, he trys to punch him.

exactly what you're talking about. When I first noticed it, I thought the Navy guy was maybe trying to knee the ND guy which prompted the stomp. But if you look, the ND guy looks like he punches him with his right hand either in the gut or the dong, which makes the Navy guy jerk his legs up.

How you could put a kid back in who had a concussion and couldn't see out of one eye for half the game is beyond me. There's making kids play tough, then there's being an asshole. Kelly is definetly part of the latter IMHO.

If the Navy player would have been a little quicker on jumping up, he would have given the ND player a major Dong-punch with his helmet.

Just when I thought Notre Dame couldn't get any classier....
<br>That player should have been ejected from the game and then suspended for at least 2 games.

is seeing Navy at the goal line and ND powerless to stop them.

This can never get old...Vick thought the other player was one of his dogs...

Wrong Vick though. This is Michael's little brother. I'm sure the Vick parents are wonderful human beings.

After all he was supposed to be working on his kicking game, not his stomping game. Duh!

and Ken Niumatalolo fails to discipline team....

2 ND defensive players get knocked out of the game, 1 of which probably for the year because of illegal cut blocks.
I could care less about a ND player retaliating after a cut block when the navy player is just as clearly aiming for his knee as the ND player clearly stomping on him.

- Navy players were intentionally trying to injure ND, and
- 2 wrongs make a right
Eh, same old Irish, now with MORE BITTERNESS!
