OT: NFL/NCAA Night Open Thread - GB vs. NO; AZ-OSU

Submitted by M-Wolverine on
Usually we're permitted a NFL open thread, and there are Michigan players, so we'll see how it goes.(Edited to add other college games...because you can never have too much football)

Well Aaron Rodgers looked pretty unstoppable on that drive. Adding Ryan Grant back into the mix and the Packers look like a great team on that small sample size. Should be a great game.

I am not even watching the NFL game, at least as my primary game. I am watching the OSUc/Arizona game simply because nothing is better than college football.

Wow. To each his own. But you are watching a vastly inferior product (not to mention teams that don't even appear to be evenly matched).

I'll watch a good Big Ten game over the NFL any day, but sloppy, non-conference September football between the Big 12 and Pac 12 is a bit of a turnoff. The exhibition season, longer camp and more player experience really lets the NFL shine earlier in its respective season. College players generally need a few games to get their feet wet and deliver cleaner, higher-quality football.

Well, of COURSE the NFL players do that. They are professionals and are expected to do so. I don't disagree with you at all, but college is still way more fun to watch.

NFL is by far superior. The players execute their assignments perfectly

Longtime Lion fans might disagree.

Seriously, while I agree that NFL players are more technically proficient, that doesn't make it a more interesting game for me to watch.  I love the unpredictability of college football.  Players come and go, rosters are in constant flux and unexpected new stars/teams emerge.  The constant is the traditions and pagentry, which I enjoy a lot more than the NFL experience, which is largely the same (with the same Jock Jams over the PA) in every stadium.

(Also, I like the college rules better, like requiring only one foot inbounds and stopping the clock to move the chains.)

I would rather watch the Rose Bowl than the Super Bowl. The unpredictability of college ball, the student sections, the bigger stadiums, the variety of offenses and defenses...all of those things can't be matched by the pros, no matter how many freak athletes and students of the game are on a roster.

I've seen to start a season in awhile...and they still won the Super Bowl. If they can keep the drive, they could be real good. Probably come down to Rodgers pushing them or not. They have QB flavors of the day hyped as the next big thing by the media, but he really gives the feel as a successor to Brady/Manning.

<br>And a TD instead of a FG there is big with a 4 point spread. But it's not over. I get the feeling this is going to be a high scoring game.

"University of Michigan" so we don't have all the over-analyzing. And knew Saints would score. They were only stopping themselves.

It would be great to see Borges implement this later during the season (Oklahoma St. has their QB in the pistol with two sidecars and a deep back). It is a really neat fusion of the wishbone and pistol, and they have run some great power plays out of this set. It would be awesome to see Denard in this attack with Hopkins, Shaw and Fitz.

I'll take defensive coordinators who look like morons named G. Robinson for $200 Alex.

It appears having 2 G's in your name doesn't help either.  What are the Saints doing on d?  What a debacle.

He was spectacular at Kentucky. Didn't get much love because of the school he played for, but nobody who watches a lot of SEC football is surprised by what he is doing tonight.
