OT: NFL draft day 3 (and Spartan melts)

Submitted by m_go_T on
Where does Henry get drafted? Does Rudock? Who do the Lions (or your favorite team) take?
Also while you start your day, enjoy an unusual dose of Spartan dose of Schadenfreude. http://michiganstate.247sports.com/Board/93/Contents/McShays-official-e…
Apparently there is a media conspiracy to keep the Spartan down and the next time McShay is in east Lansing, someone should "break his jaw" or they should all be ashamed.

Pats take Willie Henry, Ravens take Rudock and the Lions take Jeremy Cash, or Sheldon Day in the 4th.

There is always the possibility that Connor Cook is going to be this year's version of Tom Brady from many years ago.  There is a more likely possibility that a green unicorn is going to walk into my front door and drop off a million dollars for me by the end of the day.

Totally agree when it comes to quaterbacks(Johnny Manziel anybody?......Anybody?), but actually have noticed the opposite trend for non-quarterbacks. We all have our opinions on why that is, but it is a trend I have noticed.

My best friend goes to msu and even he says the guy is a complete douche canoe.

No one wants that in a locker room. No one wants that in a working environment, which is what the NFL is.

Him plummeting has nothing to do with his on-field play, so I think it does have something to do with his character.

Everyone had him as a 2nd round pick and he just had a random QB from NC State go ahead of him in the 3rd round.

His character? Seriously? No one has given any specific examples of bad character except "seems like a douche" and "friend of a friend said he won't root for the kid." Unless there's something HUGE that no one has heard about, there's no way all these teams are passing on him for being a jerk.

But it does have to do with his on field play, you're 100% wrong on that. There are major concerns about his arm strength, velocity, and ability to scramble. Add to that the character concerns, and here he is. Everything isn't clear black and white all the time.

I don't buy the whole personality issues thing with Cook. My guess is he got the MSU ethos wrong and ended up with a chip in his shoulder instead of on it.

I know a woman - a MSU graduate - who had a less than cordial encounter with Cook before he was ever the starter. She didn't tell me the story; but her father, who is a dyed in the wool Spartan fan, did. He said he would never cheer for Connor Cook as long as he lived. I've known that family for 25 years. For him to say that is astonishing, and seemed to corroborate all of the negative publicity around Cook during the draft.

I'm not trying to defend the guy or his character, but that kind of things just doesn't prevent you from getting drafted these days. Is there some giant list of these indescretions that has been kept secret from everyone except NFL executives?

Consider all of the things that had to be overlooked by teams: - Bad shoulder injury last season - Didn't attend the Senior Bowl where he could be scouted - Just "okay" throwing velocity in the combine - Questionable accuracy on some passing routes - Locker room/leadership issues - The Archie Griffin diss Those are just off the top of my head, but that's a lot of question marks on and off the field.

With all the personality-issue talk around Cook, I completely forgot that he suffered that shoulder injury late in the season. I don't remember if it was a problem in the bowl game, but at the time, I remember it looking really nasty. As I recall, you could see him on the sideline unable to lift his arm up without really obvious pain.

and that his game is likely to transfer pretty well to the NFL.  i watched him lead sparty to some close victories with clutch throws in tight spaces.  from a purely talent perspective, i think the kid is worth a draft choice.  and as it relates to personality, while i agree that he's probably the north end of a south-bound cow, have you ever met/mingled with alot of pro ball players?  some are great, but some are every bit as much of a turd as CC supposedly is.

would love to have rudock drafted ahead of him.  could happen too.

Wow, you are wrong several ways here...

1. You can milk anything with nipples.

2. Horse is actually quite good, and is eaten all over the world. You can even get it here, but it repulses some folks so it's not widely available.

3. If we wanted to make an analogy for mode of modern transport to a horse, it would NOT be an RV. It is a 1, maybe 2-seater, and it's fast, like a sports car.

Dude, you need more coffee before posting... :-D

a horse.  i'm a gonna wait for that with video capability ready to roll.  i can hear keith jackson's voice in my ears loudly exclaiming, 'whoa nellie!  faux mo and secretariat are locked in a life and death battle!  he's got a grip and isn't letting go, and she is kicking his lights out, hitting him like a mack truck!"
