The Vikings will use the Lion's pick to take Clausen, although personally I'm in the "Never Draft a QB" camp.
I said that last night before the trade. It made sense for them to trade down because the Colts, Saints, and Rams all have their QBs, so there was minimal risk of them trading down and losing Clausen.
That would be a good pick. It'd be cool to see Clausen with Weis again though too.
What's everyone hoping for in Round 3 from the Lions? I'm thinking it's got to be an OL and S in the 3rd and 4th.
Wide Receiver. Just so I can feel some familiarity with the Lions draft history.
I was so confused when the Lions didn't take Bryant at #2. I don't understand their strategy this year at all.
Preferably a flavor corner of some kind. I'm leary of OL depth in the 3rd round.
I read Coner instead of corner. I was like David Cone would be the perfect fit.
I disagree ...
While i have zero evidence whatsoever to support my assertion, I believe that good O-lineman can come from anywhere in the draft.
IMO O-lineman can come from nowhere because the position is predicated to an extent on strength and mentality. Those traits, unlike size and/or speed can be increased after the draft ...
I agree with you. But I expect there to be a rush on RB and OL in the 2nd round, and since the difference between a 3rd and 4th round OL may be trivial, I'd opt for the highest rated corner remaining on their board.
my thought was that the Lions' big need is left tackle, which is where I question mid-round selections. Plenty of solid interior lineman come from round 3... but starting left tackles are too valuable to fall.
IMHE, that is.
I'm hoping they try to trade up to the middle of the 2nd round to pick up an OT or DB, depending on what is left.
Zoltan!
any predictions on the rams first pick?
Jimmy Clausen
The rams are gonna pull a "Minnesota Timberwolves" and use their top two picks on players who play the same position.
dog whisperer right now to kill time until the draft starts... he is helping 2 smoking hot twins with their problem dog... sun dresses rule...
I've got a beagle myself.. wife gets pissed when I call her MGoBeagle..
edit... when I call the DOG MGoBeagle..
3 of them: beagle, chocolate lab/beagle and black lab/beagle... by far the best dogs i have ever had... does yours snore like a human when she is sleeping???
all the time. We had some minor surgery last month on her to remove a few growths on her legs, so she had to wear the dreaded cone. Her snoring was amplified. It was terrible. Like the michigan cheerleaders shouting into those big cones.
She was all stapled and stitched together for a week or so, so she earned the name "slap chop".
hates it when the 3 dogs plus me are snoring... i've woke up a few mornings to find her sleeping on the couch or in the spare room because the snoring was so bad...
Denver will trade back a lot from their 2nd rounder, then trade most of those picks in order to take a player who isn't rated as the top at their position group, but is really high character. My head will also asplode.
the Lions trade back into the 2nd round now? Anyone hear any interesting rumors?
Who do you think will take Benn? Will Cleveland take McCoy?
I find myself so distracted by your avatar that I forget to read your comments. Marissa Miller is SO HOT.
So yesterday, we gave up our 2nd round pick and one 7th round pick, then swapped 4th round picks to get the Vikings' 1st round pick. I'm thinking we might be able to do a similar trade by trading our 3rd, 4th, and a 7th for mid 2nd and 5th round picks.
I'm looking at the 2nd round picks right now and we might be able to get one of the Patriots' 3 picks.
about day one of the draft is that the Lions are no longing the laughing stock of the league.
Thanks Josh McDaniels!
Thanks, Al Davis!
So they are admitting that basically either Alex Barron or Jason smith is a bust.
position changes for some of their line. couldn't they be moving someone away from one position to another?
this new guy moves to left tackle and Jason Smith goes to right tackle.
Back 7 or O-line....pretty simple what the strategy should be the rest of the draft.
Chris Cook
with this pick? Seems like a big reach to me.
every single negative thing they said about the CBs drafted before him are about 2x more true for him. inconsistent, stiff hips, etc. etc. etc. can be slower than hell sometimes too. South showed a lot of Virginia games on the various channels in the sports package and all the commentary would be is how solid the guy is and then 8 seconds later he'd get blasted for a huge gain.
It will certainly be interesting to see where Clausen goes if it is not to Cleve, Wash OR OAK now that Minne took a CB. He could fall to the bottom of the 2nd (Minne again) or into the third.
What a turn of events!
for Oakland to do it at this point. they need a QB competition at LEAST. then they can shift russell to OT
Funny thing is it's conceivable.
Skeletor might think he is too much of a pretty boy for the Black Hole.
now THAT would be the best situation. better than anything.
his ass getting drafted by OAKLAND and then doing a contract holdout and missing a year.
oh god that would be epic.
Great point! That would be too good for words.
Bills'll need a QB, don't forget them...
Think he makes it past those 4 teams?
I'm hoping the Bills don't risk it and move up to grab him before the rest...but it's looking unlikely.
The Bills have the 9th pick in the 2nd round (41 Overall). I'd guess that they would jump at Jimmah.
Spiller/Clausen is a solid offensive foundation to build off of.
Wow. Nice job Tampa Bay.
stop watching ESPN.
it's about 40x better coverage. i don't want to see Brian Price dancing and fucking around. i wanna see him hitting bags and doing bizarre shit at the combine.
NFLNet is putting on a great show.
I love the draft, it's like christmas for me and without him it just wouldn't be the same.
Like that one relative we all have that we only see at the holidays and everyone is none to crazy about, but we stil love him cuz he's family.
If that makes any sense...
but I can't put up with Boomer any more.
I will give credit to espn to not having stu scott on the draft coverage.
