OT - NCAA dunk contest at FF in Atlanta won by Doug Anderson of UDM.
Doug Anderson (Kalamazoo Central, University of Detroit-Mercy) wins dominates the NCAA Final Four Fest slam dunk contest. This is some sweet video:
Played him in the state finals, he dunked like 15 times in the game. Our student sections just chanted junior college the whole game though cause he didnt have the grades for anything else.
Really a shame since he could have went to school, and not even used an athletic scholarship, at any state school. Glad my kids know what it means to have a full ride given to them for just living in the right city.
because offering full ride scholarships to students facing the challenges of inner city public school education and low socioeconomic status should guarantee that each and everyone of them is fully prepared for college and fully engaged instantly.... every single one without fail.
I wish my inner city education had a clue what you just said.... I'm stuck between you insulting inner city kids or are you off your soap box yet. I was simply saying that all kids in Kalamazoo get full ride scholarships and its a shame to piss that away because you didn't take school serious, sorry if I ruffled your feathers.
Detroit has a similar program.
It's not just inner city kids. It's also not something that everyone that lives there is thrilled about because of the tax base impact.
It's kinda funny how he's in Atlanta and your talking shit on a blog. Class act my friend. You sound like a Spartan

It's funny how you're talking shit to someone "talking shit" on a blog. I wasn't talking shit I was just stating what happened when we played them. He's obviously got a lot
Going for him so relax. You're arguing with a high schooler...
Anderson wasn't on the 2010 Kzoo team that beat AA Huron in the finals---Brian Oliver (Dayton) was the star. Anderson graduated the year before--and lost to Pershing in the finals and didn't play Huron. Not sure who you saw dunking or who you (Huron) were chanting at?
It was Devon Oliver.. He had an offer from Michigan but choose dayton for whatever reason..Hes a great kid also. I live in KZOO area so I had the priviledge of seeing the kids play. Was great while it lasted.
Nice. Go Titans. Anderson actually cracked the heel of the rim at Calihan with one of his dunks this year.
He was impressive. I didn't realize it was on but happened to flip by and saw the very start of the contest. Kid got hops.
And they featured a regular season highlight reel for Doug Anderson:
was straight vicious. Easy winner for me though Carrick Felix was no mug.
Just saw this...

Both Zak Irvin and Derrick Walton (2013 Bball commits) will be competing in the 3-Point contest. Good luck to them!
Interesting note, Kansas has 2 players in it as well who are a PG and SF player just like we do. They have very similar recruiting profiles as our PG and SF commits too (top 50)...should make for a nice competition between them.
Evil monkey. You sound like a fool. You high school sounds like it has a lot of class. I was at game and have no idea how AA even got there. Maybe your one player who I haven't heard of since.
D Anderson is actually a good kid.
Relax buddy, student sections do whatever to get in the opponents head. Ever been to a Michigan Hockey game? They show lots of class there don't they? Obviously he's a good player I was just stating what happened.
I assume this wasn't a reply to my post...
I meant to reply to the other guy. Did I reply to yours on accident?
Stand UP! Not much happens to take pride in.... this pleases me.
The last dunk in particular was pretty epic - I think that one got all "10"'s and deservedly so. The interview afterwards was pretty entertaining too. I did get a chuckle out of Anderson calmly saying, "I just told everybody I was going to do basic dunks..." and the "Wait, what?" that he got as a result.
I'm not sure why we don't see broken body parts after some of these dunks! He was the clear winner!
