OT: My new favorite time-waster
I really can't overstate how much fun I think this is, especially if you're nerdy about music in any way:

Hint: use lots of squares. Hold down your mouse button to create whole lines.
Enjoy
That is a good site to waste some time with, but it has been posted before in a thread.
After watching Miguel Cabrera dominate major league pitching for 52 games only to be 3rd in All star voting behind Texixeira and Morneau, my new favorite is:

I plan on stuffng the ballot box every day and hope the mgocommunity feels the same way. Maybe I'm drinking the Rod Allen "Cabby's a beast" kool-aid but with him hitting .351 with 15 bombs and 49 rbis, ranking 3rd, 3rd, and 1st respectively.....come on. That being said, he'll be on the team regardless but it would be nice to see him start.
GO BLUE
GO TIGS
Is right here. Mgoblog hall of fame
I call that my beat laboratory.
I could see how that could be an endless amount of creativity... I would like to use similar ones with different meters as well. Thanks for sharing.
sporcle.com is one helluva fun time waster!
this
whole suite from same developer that allows you to make/mix some very cool beats and to open and re-mix other people's stuff. If you are not familiar with sound equipment it will take you a while to get started, but it isn't very hard to pick up once you get the hang of it.
Best way is to go into someone else's setup and see how they did it.
Pretty big library of samples and riffs to choose from.
I don't know what to say. I think I'm in love.
to put your kids in front of, I hate letting my 5 year old son watch TV and I offer him this as an alternative and he LOVES it. I can actually use it as a small bribe, he likes it that much. The only downside is making sure he has plenty of time to use it as getting him off it after 10 minutes can be a bear.
As a musician, this is an awesome tool, and a great way to make music. My suggestion would be to use more of the lower boxes to flesh out the bass side of the spectrum.
EDIT: Try using diamond-shaped boxes if you like contrapuntal effects.
