OT: Motor City Comic Con 2016; Lena Headey and others

Submitted by Bosch on

This year's event is coming up (May 13-15).  I have never been to a Comic Con but am considering making the trip over to Novi this year.

A couple confirmed actors that I'd be personally interested in stalking seeing are GOT's Lena Headey (Cersei Lannister) and various members of The Walking Dead (Shane, Abraham, Eugene, Gabriel, Sasha, Jesse).

I'm sure that some of you will be beside yourselves to learn that Ian Ziering and Tara Reid will make an appearance.  Feel free to out your inner geek by listing others of personal interest.

I went to Horror Hound for the first time back in March and absolutely loved it. I'll go every year from now on. Some may think Cons are stupid, but they are a blast.

But I'll never understand the appeal of paying some already wealthy person $ for their autograph or a picture.

It was nice of them to use a picture of Tara Ried from the 90's though.

How much would you pay for a Harbaugh-autographed football? I'd pay at least $60 (and realistically it would probably cost more).

And if I'm going to buy autographed merchandise it's nice to have it signed in person. A lot of sci-fi actors are "b-list" at best and have a lot of fun with these things. I ended up talking with Edward James Olmos for 5 minutes or so, he's a blast.

Tara Reid? Wow. When was the last time she did anything?

I've honestly heard nothing about her in years except when she dropped back in for American Reunion. And no, I'm not counting that Sharknado crap.

I will be there Saturday on passes that my sister has graciously offered to get for me, so I can walk around with a media-type pass on a lanyard and look important. She'll also have a booth there as well, so I may be there quite a bit of the time as well. I believe a few people here have even said that they own some of her artwork, so small world indeed. I may or may not identify myself as an MGoBlogger.

I went last year and it was a good time, especially if you're a comic geek. Don't overlook Adam West and Burt Ward being there. Batman 66 is awesomely cheezy.

I went a few years back and had a great time. However, famous folks really don't move the needle for me. I was more excited to have George Perez sign a couple issues of Teen Titans for me and dig through the discounted trade paperbacks. Best advice I can give is to get there as early as possible. The line getting in was crazy. I got there well before the doors opened and still had to wait a while because they were kind of disorganized. Stan Lee caused a bit of a crowd.

I take my kids every year. I've been a collector my entire life and this is the only convention I go to. It's really a good time, you'll have a blast.
