OT: Mike Yurcich from OK ST to OSU?

Submitted by skegemogpoint on January 1st, 2019 at 7:13 PM

Lot of talk that OKLA ST OC Mike Yurcich is leaving Stillwater to take same job in C’bus. If that’s the case, one would think Kevin Wilson would be on his way out.

I haven't seen any reports that he's taking an OC job.  I have seen passing game coordinator discussed, but until there's an official press release, we won't know for sure.

Please God, No.

That said, Pep should've been gone after year 1 - the writing was on the wall. Sell it has him rebranding himself under Harbaugh to be a HC (which he's better suited for...Michigan should've pushed HARD to get him to Charlotte has the HC).

Harbaugh needs to give up the reigns on offense, or at least loosen them and become more of a CEO like Brian Kelly realized he had to do (and talks openly about - remember, Kelly's an offensive guy too)

It should be Harbaugh as HC.

OC/QB: A young, creative, spread/multiple QB who's going to play every snap with Collins and Black on the outside and DPJ in the slot.

RB: Jay Harbaugh

WR/Passing Game Coordinator: Tee Martin (great recruiter as well!)

TE: Moore

OL/Run Game Coordinator: Warriner

DC: Don Brown

DL: Mattison

LB: Washington

CB: Zordich

S: Partridge

SPT: Jay Harbaugh/Partridge

Harbaugh should've been all over bringing Tee Martin in when he was out at USC. Boost the recruiting, get a guy who can coach QBs AND WRs...get him involved in the offensive play calling with the OC that you bring in. Let Warriner and the OC manage the run game. Profit.

Something like that did happen. But that kind of thing he did has happened all the time in football. It happened when I was in high school. It is not good. I didn't like it when I saw it. But the head coach that did it in high school wasn't a bad person. He was wrong. His desire to win overrode his protection of a high school kid. The players dad wanted to sue. But didn't.

I think Jim Harbaugh, Ben Herbert, and others on the team, would be a buffer from him doing the same at Michigan. He wouldn't be the head coach here. He'd have less authority. But yeah, he was wrong. There's no trying on my part to sweep it under the rug. It was wrong. But it is not unforgivable. We can't be held to the mistakes of our past. What kind of limitations would we all have if our mistakes dictated our future?

And besides, it's possible he is sorry for it, and is changing.  At least I am hoping he is.

Hmm, Maybe if Wilson is gone we can hire him and he can give us inside scoop on OSU.

I dunno guys, I'm reaching for anything here while I watch OSU play great in the Rose Bowl, man that pisses me off!

Come on to TTUN, as they call it where you are now Kevin Wilson, here to Ann Arbor. We have a much better stadium anyway, and a better core of receivers, and a better offensive line coach.

(Or wouldn't Kevin Wilson mesh well with Jim Harbaugh's style?)

Yurcich has been rumored to osu or Tennessee for the past week....I wouldn’t mind Wilson coming to UM, however, unless Harbaugh gives up the reigns, I don’t think it matters who the OC is.

People need to stop with the “he’s a bad guy” stuff. Durkin is one of the worst people in college football and everyone was happy to have him on staff.

This is rock bottom. Since when do we beg to see an OSU coach come our way to help us beat them?

When will we realize it’s not the coaches, it’s the culture. Recruiting is 90% of the battle. Pretty simple. Wilson ain’t gonna do what we think he could do.

what don’t you understand? Saban and Meyer bring in guys who can recruit. It’s the same reason why OSU will probably steam roll us the next two years at least.

Scheme is important, but life is way easier with a top 3 class year in and year out.

If it’s 90% recruiting then we wouldn’t be shitting the bed anywhere close to as much as we do against OSU. For most of the last decade we’ve recruited only a half shade or so below OSU’s level. And yet we get ham blasted or shit our pants when we have chances to win.

Scheme matters. Putting your players in position to succeed based on their skill set matters. Player development matters. All of these matter arguably more than recruiting. Case in point: Mark Dantonio circa 2010-2015.
