OT Michigan Cycling Public Kit Order Ends Friday

Submitted by tdcarl on

Hello everyone, I normally wouldn't post something like this, but I had received questions in the past about how to obtain an official Michigan Cycling kit (not one of those cheap knockoffs available in stores). The team's kit order is currently public and will live until Friday. Here is a bit about the order, copied from the team's facebook page. I'm no longer with the team, but I am a former vice president and would be glad to direct any questions to the current regime.

Michigan Alumni, Parents and Friends!

Want to show off your Michigan pride when you ride? Well now is your chance! We are doing a team jersey order and would like to offer all of you the opportunity to order official Michigan Cycling Team kit.

The store will only be open until February 12th, so don't miss out. Please email me if you have questions.

Go to this link to create and account and place your order:
http://www.primalcustompro.com/NewTeamMemberCreate.aspx…

This link is open to anyone who wants to order, please pass it around to anyone who may be interested. A portion of the proceeds from every order goes directly to the team, so thank you in advance for your support. If you are interested in making an additional donation to the team, please email [email protected].

A few notes:

1) Delivery: your items should show up by mid April. We will let you know if anything changes.

2) Minimums: We, as a team/alumni community, must order collectively a minimum of 10 pieces for each item of clothing (i.e. vests, women's jerseys, arm warmers etc.). If you order an item, and we don't end up meeting minimums, it won't be ordered and you will be automatically refunded.

The blue jerseys are the official ones that the team will race in this spring. The maize kits are a new alternative option for this year to add a little flavor to your training.

Raptor, I've been in the market for a cycling helmet in the mold of the football helmets. Any leads on anything like that? How about the official cycling team helmets or something like them? Thanks for your help and for providing this link!

As awesome as that would be, I don't know where you'd find that without getting it done custom. The team doesn't really have an official helmet/shoes/bike/etc as everyone pretty much just rolls with what works best for them. The jerseys/bibs/arm warmers are pretty much all we have in the way of official equipment.

I did my own winged bike helmet several years ago with detailing tape and a couple of cans of modeling spray paint. Spray down the front of the helmet (along with the visor if applicable) with yellow, wait for it to dry, then tape off the part that needs to remain yellow and overspray with dark blue. Finish with a clearcoat if you wish. The next version I do will be with an airbrush and I assume it'll look a lot more polished.

While I don't ride and, consequently, have no interest in this, I like the idea. It's kinda of like an authentic hockey or football jersey. I would love to see these around town on some of the cyclists I see every day.

Awesome - thanks for the post. Is there an option for shorts/pants? And when you say cheap knockoffs...are you referring to the ones for sale in the MDen, currently?  I specifically avoided them because they felt low quality but was curious if those were different than this kit.

EDIT: Went through the signups and saw the order options. Still curious about how these differ in quality from the MDen ones, though, if anyone can speak to it!

I'd buy one if you had an off road version for us mountain bikers. Button up front, maize & blue plaid pattern perhaps, a little more baggy, etc.

This is pretty nice. I have a knock off that is not as nice, but which I am proud to wear. With a winged-helmet. While riding, coming towards me, I saw a fella in what I think was a proper kit also with the winged-helmet. We gave each other high-fives as we passed each other.

The kicker is that this happened in South Korea. Leaders and the best.

That is indeed awesome. Can I ask whether you are a regular cyclist (presumably road) or do you know any fellow Wolverine cyclists in S.Korea? I recently got into road cycling and so far I am loving it. With the plan of relocating to HK this Summer, I may be able to bring my bike when I'm visitng my family in Seoul. Would be great to ride with some UM alums/fans while back at home.

These are fucking cool. But as I'm a hipster who only rides a fixie, I'm afraid I'm going to have to stick to riding in jeans and a tank top while smoking a cigarette if I want to maintain my street cred.

I was just searching the online stores for Michigan cycling kits last weekend! I am really glad I didn't buy some cheap knockoff.

Ordered a bib and both racing tops. I might buckle and buy more stuff before Friday. Is there not enough demand for gloves? Would love those!

See y'all out on the road sometime.

Thanks very much for posting this information for everyone.  I've purchased gear through the team three times previously - including the most recent offering - and have never been disappointed.

Always happy to display the block M here in Pennsylvania.

I kind of have a pet peeve against guys riding in pro kit, but I gotta admit, these look sharp. I'm very tempted for a pair of am warmers at least.

I'll soon be out on the roads in the biking capital of the US, Boulder, CO.  I no longer race but....

Thanks for posting this! I've been looking for something like this for a long time, especially since I missed out on the last opportunity. Ordered the race jersey and bibs in maize.
