OT: Lions venting thread / dead inside

Submitted by AeonBlue on

It's weird to feel feelings about football stuff. I don't like it. Vent here.

The PI puts the ball on the 29, the 15 yard penalty on Dez puts the ball on the 14. Instead of the punt giving them a short field they have to go from the 20, down 6. And that's at the worst case scenario. It changes things.

Well, the powers-that-be now have their Packers-Cowboys matchup, and I won't go near that steaming pile of crap. It is now Ravens or bust (especially with two Harbaughs roaming the sidelines).

The officials were terrible. Entire playoffs should be all star worthy crews. If every call was properly called, Detroit wins comfortably by at least 10. So many missed offensive holding calls on Dallas, to go with the pass interference which was blatant (defender made no effort to play the ball, nor did he even look). Tough way to lose a game

It's another one of those situations where you really just want to punch a human being over and over again until his face looks like hamburger. But you can't. Thanks, Obama.

The Lions are not good enough to get out of the next round, it's Seattle or Green Bay, I'd rather get out sooner, get a better pick in the early rounds, and get this team rounded out to be a contender like Green Bay, Seattle, New England, Baltimore.

Detroit DESPERATELY needs secondary and O-line pieces. No more TE's or WR's in the first round. The only 'best player available' you can take is a RB that is in the mold of the Frank Gore's, Marshawn Lynch's, or Eddie Lacy's... And honestly, I'd still pick a piece for the back 7 first, then maybe an Offensive linemen in round two, and then try and sign Marshawn Lynch to a FA contract.

I was thinking the same thing.  They could have run the ball on 3rd and 1, and either set up another run on 4th and inches, or run a QB sneak to pick up the 1st down.  Bad refereeing cost us the game one part of the reason for the loss, but included in that is poor game management on the part of Caldwell and Lombardi.

I hate that Dez Bryant was on the field complaining during the non-pass interference call.   I have never screamed louder at refs.  But the Lions still had a shot to win, and failed.  I'm miserable right now.

I don't feel dead inside because as a long time Lions fan I have come to expect his.  In fact i expect to lose every game so every win is a miracle in my world.

I did find it weird when both Vince McMahon and David Stern tweeted "finally the NFL gets it right" following the pass interference reversal.

No on a serious note - what a joke call.   Defense still should not have allowed them to march down the field twice like that but it all sort of sucks.  For the first time in my life we have a legit bad ass defense, and I know it goes away with Suh which again... that's being a Lions fan.  Can't have nice things or when a nice thing is here (Barry Sanders) it is surrounded by a decade of Wayne Fontes.
