OT: Lions venting thread / dead inside

Submitted by AeonBlue on

It's weird to feel feelings about football stuff. I don't like it. Vent here.

Fucking joke.  I have stated many time, there is a universal law I have stated many times for all sports and even all situations. When in doubt: "Fuck Detroit".

Need I say more?

Same old...you know. Tried to hang on, lost offensive aggressiveness, pussed out on 4th and 1, and got screwed on a call. Many ways to lose a football game, Lions have always been gifted at all of them.

I am not a Lions or a Cowboys fan, so I don't really have a dog in this fight. Definitely, the PI pickup was pretty egregious. I have no clue what the refs were thinking with that decision. However, the team just imploded: mental mistakes, terrible oline play, and a wretched 3rd down defense. Yes, that PI pickup sucked, but it did not decide the game. It's like the old same goes: Act like you've been there before. I guess in the case for the Lions, most haven't - so maybe they just don't get it. Either way, good game and tough loss. Hopefully they get an oline in the offseason to protect Stafford.

The fix is in.

It is why nobody watches Horse Racing, Boxing and the WWF / WWE.

NFL lost me as a fan today.  No more tantasy.  No more wasted Sundays.  I can't trust the officiating so I can't watch

I knew the Lions were gonna lose the second they decided to punt on that 4th and 1. Terrible decision to play it so conservative. Led to the 10 yard shanked punt and you know the rest. Sigh

But the m-fucking NFL did this as much as anyone.  You can go 2-3 years of watching NFL football without seeing some jerk off ref pick up the flag.  But THEY picked up that one at THAT time. Well Holy Shit, Jerry Jones almost didn't win at home against Detroit? Well that is just unacceptable, and it was.

Universal law proven once again, always, when there is the opportunity, F Detroit. Hockey, Football, whatevert, Doesn't really matter.

Waited an awful long time. To have it go down like this is, to Jerry and Tony and every other freaking Cowboy fan couldn't feel much worse. Soul dong punch.

Never been one to blame refs or consider nonsensical conspiracy theories but tonight I'm hoppin on the bus. The punt on 4th and 1 was highly questionable, but that picked up flag reeked of bullshit. Especially considering that arrogant douche Dez Bryant was on the field illegally, screaming at the officials, with his helmet off. Which is an easy penalty.

Something tells me the appeal of the Pack vs Cowboys on Sunday was way too much for the league to pass up. They seemed to do everything in their power to make sure Dallas won that game.

Same Old Lions is not always an indictment on how bad the Lions are. It is essentially Murphy's Law: when something can go wrong for the Lions, it (generally) does.

I am 23 years old and it is becoming alarmingly clear that I will never witness a Lions' Superbowl. I don't know how to cope with that.

I didn't have a horse in this race. I dislike both teams, Leos because of a few dirty players and the Cowboys because of Jerra. That said, the Leos got hosed on some egregious calls. Very obvious ones. Smelled like home cooking. Hard to fix an nfl playoff game but this one seemed a bit fishy.

Special teams screwed them. A kickoff return to the 5? A 10 yard punt? And what happened to the aggressive blitz schemes that had Romo on his before he could he even complete his drops?

have never seen that happen at any level, at any time, in any league.  we drive 70 yds from our 4 yd line, we would've had the ball on their 30 with a 1st down.   sure, the 4th and 1 punt is easy to second guess and i'll join you, but with the lions driving and getting hosed in an epic fashion, i hope the dallas cowboys get beaten like a rented mule next week.  unbelievable.

The PI puts the ball on the 29, the 15 yard penalty on Dez puts the ball on the 14. Instead of the punt giving them a short field they have to go from the 20, down 6. And that's at the worst case scenario. It changes things.

NFL has it in for the Lions.  They want a big market team like Dallas to advance.  Pretty obvious with the horseshit attempted suspension and the calls in this (and the Pittsburgh) game.  Done with Goodell's NFL.
